Job Summary:
Hospital-Based Physician Services (HBP) is a multi-specialty organization involved in every major aspect of HCA's Hospital-Based physician / provider growth and operational strategies. These include the management of employed Anesthesiologists, CRNA's and CAA's, and Registered Nurses through HCA Healthcare's Anesthesia Services (HCA-AS). HCA-AS is growing quickly, currently operates in 4 states with approximately 600 providers in 23 acute care hospitals and 2 ASC's. HCA-AS closely integrates with HCA's hospitals and their surgical services to realize a seamless integration into the procedural operations of facilities.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary responsibilities of the Chief of Anesthesia Advanced Practice Providers includes:
* Collaborate with the Anesthesia Chief Medical Officer and Anesthesia Chief Operating Officer to develop and execute clinical & business strategies and initiatives for HCA's employed anesthesia practices.
* Design, hire, supervise, manage and train a team of high-performing facility-based and regional anesthesia advanced practice provider leaders.
* Establish, train, measure and evaluate and modify clinical standards of care within the HCA-AS with reporting capability at the enterprise level down to the individual provider performance, including the construction of necessary manuals, guidelines and policies.
* Participate in the development of recruitment and retention strategies for anesthesia advance practice providers including attendance of recruiting events and development and support of SRNA and CAA affiliation relationships.
* Collaborate on the development and process adoption for standardizing patient care and operational throughput in the OR; including but not limited to participation in certain surgical improvement initiatives (e.g. PAT, ERAS, throughput, etc.) This includes participation in dashboard creation and the establishment of metrics to hold our teams accountable for progress in relevant clinical and operational initiatives.
* Evaluate and develop coverage models for existing and new HCA-AS facilities including staffing models, compensation schemes, and proforma inputs for revenue and expense models.
* Regularly meet with facility and division leadership and other key stakeholders to ensure clinical and operational alignment.
* Participate and support the establishment and maintenance of continuous quality improvement and risk management programs to meet HCA, hospital, and regulatory body requirements for anesthesia services.
* Assist with elements of Advanced Practice Anesthesia Provider corporate credentialing and compliance to maintain appropriate licensure, certification and privileges.
* Collaborate on the development of necessary continuing educational activities and mandatory requirements to assure compliance with CEU requirements.
* Lead and participate in efforts toward maintaining and improving efficiency of the operating room and procedural workflow by assisting in daily schedule and coordination efforts of the Advanced Practice Anesthesia Provider team including oversight of daily assignments, float utilization, and call coverage models.
* Develop, collaborate and participates in efforts to ensure service continuity at facilities whether due to workforce constraints or emergency situations (e.g., bad weather event, etc.) including ability to perform patient care.
* Assists Facility and Regional Advanced Practice Anesthesia Provider leaders toward compliance with facility medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, hospital policies and procedures, and facility department policies and procedures.
* Host, create agendas and create meeting cadence for meetings/calls necessary for dissemination of information, completion of administrative tasks, and growth and development of anesthesia team members.
* Provides conflict management resolution when necessary while striving to maintain a healthy work environment.
* Oversee compliance adherence of the HCA "CRNA/AA Time and Attendance Management Guidelines" for the purpose of tracking and recording PTO. Additionally, follows "Time Clock Guidelines" for submission of time management/attendance to the payroll department.
