Director of global sourcing job description

We are looking for a Director who will be a key leader within Strategic Sourcing and Procurement focused on the delivery of sourcing solutions across the global development business portfolio. This person will lead (either directly or matrix) a sourcing team who is accountable for clarifying requirements and completing and handling vendor contracts within the business in alignment with the company's sourcing strategy. We need someone to work closely with key partners across the organization to develop strong relationships and drive consistency in how work is contracted and outsourced. Our Director Global Development Sourcing will be the champion of category management for the entire SS&P organization, providing coaching, guidance, support and overall leadership to team to achieve goals.
A typical day might include:

Directs and supervises daily execution of Regeneron's sourcing strategies Either directly or through a matrix, leads an organization of multiple managers and senior level professionals responsible for carrying out larger sourcing projects Implements diverse sourcing strategies using spend portfolio knowledge Develops and communicates functional strategy and objectives for sourcing aligned with group business strategy and operations requirements Establishes overall business plan for organization with significant impact on the success of company operations As part of the leadership team, influence the strategic direction of how Regeneron uses service providers Act as a leader of category management for the entire SS&P organization, providing coaching, guidance, support and overall leadership to team to ensure goals are achieved. Lead a team responsible for all activities associated with the development and execution of contracts for the business Align the outsourcing management team along program / therapeutic lines to optimize interactions with the business Review major contracts for key areas of spend. Expert resource for planning and leading complex negotiations Supervise the preparation of study specific proposals where applicable; manage and influence vendor selection, negotiations and benchmarking Lead all aspects of the implementation of consistent outsourcing approaches across programs where the appropriate level of due diligence is applied to ensure sourcing activities are aligned with the study requirements Establish a process where teams are oriented on appropriate sourcing methodologies and understand their sponsor obligations when working with clinical service providers Collaborate closely with Finance to ensure all sourcing activities comply to Regeneron's financial controls Lead or participate in supplier governance committees Maintain current awareness of the biopharmaceutical outsourcing market and industry trends Identify/define sourcing standard methodologies both within and outside of Regeneron and ensure those standard methodologies are adopted Provides coaching and guidance on job performance and career development to their team (as applicable); builds and leads talent building and development objectives for the organization.



This role may be for you if:


4 years of supervisory experience or proven experience leading a matrix team Solid understanding of Sourcing Contracting, ERP, eRFX systems preferred. (Oracle, Zycus,Other) Cost modeling knowledge Ability to build consensus, partnership, and creativity within a collaborative team with limited supervision Program management experience and project management experience required



Qualifications:


Bachelor's plus 12 years of relevant, dynamic experience within procurement, to include 9 years directly in outsourcing within publicly traded biopharmaceutical companies Master's plus 10 years of relevant, dynamic experience within procurement, to include 7 years directly in outsourcing within publicly traded biopharmaceutical companies

WHAT YOU'LL DOAs the Sourcing Lead, you will bring world-class sophistication to our procurement activities on a consistent basis.

Through deep analysis actively find opportunities, develop strategy and category plans that deliver significant value, implement and drive those through, guiding and managing stakeholders along the way

Integrate and build relationships with stakeholders. Identify key buyers, collaborate with those to increase savings as well as the value we receive from our vendor base

Engage with internal customers in understanding their service needs, evaluating solutions, and providing updated category strategies, while monitoring on-going supplier management through defined supplier performance metrics and business reviews to support their business priorities.

Effectively communicate the impact of sourcing recommendations to business partners and leadership as appropriate and actively enlist their support.

Build strong relationships with suppliers that deliver value across the whole life cycle of the procurement and supplier management process

Prepare, issue, and manage RFx process; evaluate proposals; make recommendations using internal and external data sources
Mitigating vendor related risk, and contribute to managing the category vendor base Establish effective communication channels, performance metrics and sharing of BCG best-practice within network Track and monitor spend, vendors and market development Negotiate contracts/agreements within the parameters provided by internal Legal team Increase spend under Procurement's management within category Support and provide input to the Center of Excellence in the implementation of purchasing processes, structures and supporting tools, to enable capture of savings and long-term development
The Sourcing Lead will report to the Category Leader. This individual should expect to have a great deal of interaction with regional leadership and people on all levels and functions within BCG. A certain amount of travel will also be part of the job.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
University degree or equivalent In-depth knowledge of all procurement phases from analysis to implemented contract At least 5 - 8 years of experience from blue chip global procurement experience processes with strong experience in developing and delivering category strategies A solid, and proven track record from preparing and executing RFx's, contract negotiations and reviews, and analysis within this category Customer centric focus Demonstrates an understanding of business and procurement operations and an appreciation for how to prioritize among demands and balance the levers that make a complex business run smoothly and productively. YOU'LL WORK WITHBCG spends ~$1.6B on goods and services across the firm globally. At its core, Procurement is accountable for ensuring that BCG is supplied with goods and services that meet business requirements, drive value and at best whole life cost to BCG.

The functional procurement team at BCG is a healthy, yet nascent operating function that has generated material savings to BCG over the past 5 years. Over the past 18 months, we've embarked upon a procurement transformation to define and implement strategies, organization, systems and policies to create a sustainable operating model. This model should maximize value from our suppliers, mitigate risk and meet savings targets. BCG is a highly matrixed firm where purchasing decisions are often taken at the local level, therefore this transformation will need to be carried out with high levels of stakeholder engagement, alignment, and collaboration.

The BCG Global Procurement function is currently made up of more than 45 procurement professionals located in London, Stockholm, New Delhi, Boston and Munich. This Sourcing Lead position will be supporting our team with sourcing projects on a strategic and operational level.

Scope of work will be global, regional as well as local, requiring procurement experience, relationship building, sell-in capabilities and sensitivity to local requirements. Key Responsibilities and Priorities:
Definition and implementation of a near-term and long-term sourcing strategy The ability to affect change across different functions in the business, applying best-practices with regards to communication and project management Effective leadership of the sourcing and supply chain teams Oversight of the supply planning function (excluding Bozeman production) Creation of internal teams (working groups, advisory groups, direct reports) to support efforts, and the management of outside consultants and contractors as neededA willingness to travel extensively, evaluating potential manufacturing partners, ensuring compliance and developing trust and rapport. The role will require 4 to 6 international trips per year (1-2 weeks each) and 2 to 4 domestic trips per year (trade shows and domestic sourcing evaluation) Expertise in product cost management, from ideation through bulk production.Participation in company-wide, conservation, sustainability, and JEDI initiatives

Key Competencies:
Strong baseline understanding of cultural and political trends in all relevant sourcing geographies, and an ongoing curiosity with regards to changing dynamics and emerging opportunities Natural ability to develop and maintain trust and rapport with key partners, regardless of location, language and cultural background Fluent understanding of Simms' operational systems and processes, encompassing product creation, purchasing & planning, logistics, and warehousing & demand fulfillment Passion for sustainability and social & labor compliance. Requirements:
10+ years of consumer products industry experience in roles that engage directly with sourcing and supply chain5+ years of experience leading teams Bachelor's degree at a minimum, advanced studies in a relevant field preferred Relevant additional language abilities preferred Extensive travel experience
