1. Evaluate internal mechanisms for monitoring healthcare coordination within each program on an ongoing basis.

2. Supervise a medical quality assurance process in all residential programs.

3. Evaluate and revise forms for documenting medical information in EVOLV.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree or RN in nursing required.

Certification: Current PA nursing licensure required.

Experience: Five years of nursing experience required, preferably experience working with individuals with intellectual disability or in psychiatric care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Ability to effectively interact as part of a team. Knowledge of county and state licensing regulations. Knowledge of psychiatric care and treatment models. Knowledge of managed care principles as they pertain to obtaining healthcare. Familiarity with creating and implementing care plans for individuals in our care. Care New England Health System director of health services job description

The System Director of Occupational Health Services coordinates and manages the activities of the Occupational Health across all CNE operating units which provides pre-employment and annual physical exams, initial treatment and referral for illness and injury at work and medical and safety OSHA record keeping and required reporting for the hospital. Responsible for evaluation of standing orders for employee immunizations and lab work required for employment, and development of treatment plans for occupational exposures. Assists in the care and management of employees to include, but not limited to, history and physical, medical evaluation review for respirator fit testing, ongoing assessment and intervention, coordination of care post occupational exposure to blood and body fluid or communicable diseases. Works closely with the Director Loss Prevention and Worker’s Compensation in managing employee workers compensation claims and leave of absences. Performs an educational role, promulgating health standards for employees and counseling individuals on health matters, coordinates activities with the Infection Control department and Quality and Clinical Effectiveness departments regarding diseases among Hospital personnel. Assists the LOA team in managing employee leave of absences and clearing employees to return to work. Maintains documentation required for mandatory reporting on Influenza vaccines and COVID-19 vaccines. Ensures all staff rotating through or volunteering at a CNE facility have met CNE immunization requirements.

Specifications

Baccalaureate in Nursing and Masters of Science Degree required. Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. Must have and maintains licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in the State of Rhode Island. Minimum of two years related experience as RN in acute care hospital or ambulatory care setting and five years’ experience as a nurse practitioner in occupational health, emergency medicine, primary care or preventive medicine preferred. Must have a desire to develop expertise in occupational and preventive health. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required. Superb clinical and communication skills and a desire to be part of a dynamic team required. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Experience leading teams, projects and health system level infection preventative initiatives required.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Directs activities of department to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model. Performs advanced practice skills and consults with CMO or Infectious Disease physicians as needed.
  • Coordinates activities with the Infection Control department. Consults with the infectious disease physician on the status of complicated blood and body fluid exposures that require continued evaluation.
  • Provides expert consultation for clinical issues or exposures to communicable diseases and provides prophylaxis prescriptions for exposed employees as needed.
  • Participates in project management, planning and vaccinating along with health education and advocacy at large scale vaccine clinics for all of our CNE employees.
  • Focuses on developing preventive strategies to optimize the health of our employees for work related and non-work related concerns.
  • Participates in the education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers
  • Preserves and protects patients and employees rights to confidentiality.
