Job DescriptionDirector of Purchasing -food processing We are a large food processing facility with three factories in the southern United States, including our corporate headquarters in Tyler, TX. As we continue to grow we are in need of a leader for our purchasing group, who will lead contract negotiations and corporate level management of product Ingredients, packaging film, corrugate, cooking oil, CO2 & nitrogen gases, plant supplies and employee supplies, to include Inventory control and cash management What You Will Be DoingYou will lead a team of three plant purchasing managers, a purchasing manager for packaging and corrugate, plus any other purchasing people that may join us in the future.

There will be some traveling required to our other plants, to the tune of about 1 week per month.What You Need for this Position- BS degree with a Business Major (Accounting, Management, IT or Economics)
- 3 to 5 Years' experience as a purchasing manager for multi-plant food processing company(s)
- Previously attended minimum of 2 Purchasing Training Courses
- ERP & MRP Business Software knowledge and experience. Tableau and ExcelIf you have purchasing experience in the food processing space, and have been in a leadership role, this position will be very rewarding. Besides the base salary there is also a bonus package that is quite lucrative that could take you over $300K I will tell you about when we speak. -

Director of Purchasing Qualifications:


5+ years of overall restaurant experience including purchasing, multi-unit concepts, and supply chain experience, including progressive purchasing oversight and responsibilities. Experience with food as a Chef is a major plus Comprehensive experience with purchasing systems Passionate about food, self-development, and the development of others People-focused, with an ability to inspire others Strong written and verbal communication is essential Leads by first being a student, and seeking to understand/listen Strong people skills that will foster internal relationships and vendor relationships Solid mathematical/analytical skills, including basic math, budgeting, and profit/loss management Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, including excellent negotiation skills and strong knowledge of commodity markets Likes having fun and doing cool things!


Director of Purchasing Responsibilities:


Strategic Goal Setting + Internal Assessment

Assess internal food purchasing and supply chain needs Compile demand forecast for the next 12 months, including NSO needs Develop best-in-class specifications for raw materials and packaging Identify areas for improvement for internal operations and supply chain-related activities

Market Analysis

Determine short- and long-term feasibility, capability, and capacity for all supply chain partners and commodities

Develop Strategy

Translate business directives and market analysis into a long-term strategy that optimizes cost, quality, and supply continuity Put together a plan that supports long-term growth and on-the-ground operations

Core Program Management: Cost, Quality, Supply

Maintain strong costing + quality + supply performance through effective supplier relationship management, forecasting, market research, new ingredient/supplier sourcing, spec adjustments, and suggesting internal optimizations (i.E. Recipe or service related) Negotiate national and local vendor contracts. Establish and optimize rebate programs associated with purchasing contracts. Develop, maintain and oversee the vendor product bid process. Maintain strong relationships with operations managers Develop and maintain an annual and monthly budget, using theoretical and actual reporting Set up a transparent process with executive leadership when key decisions need to be made regarding supply chain and purchasing

Operational + Corporate Support

Maintain strong communication to support Restaurant locations in all areas of food and packaging Manage Compeat or Restaurant 365 as the company purchasing management system. Communicate, track and summarize product recalls/withdrawals Communicate sourcing changes and new product info Ensure order guides are up to date Oversee the details for product changes and new menu rollout Track service level agreements, including verification of invoice pricing versus contract Audit operations to ensure compliance with our receiving purchasing and food cost systems. Monitor and publish weekly price trends to Brand Presidents, Regionals, Chefs and Restaurant Managers. Advise and direct based on trends to achieve purchasing goals. Focus to include Top 35-40 items for each brand and company-wide The development and implementation of a cost index of the top spending that is continually updated on a 13-week trend.

Responsible for the Management of internal business projects and programs involving department or cross-functional teams of subject matter experts, delivering products through the design process to completion. Plans and directs schedules as well as project budgets. Monitors the project from inception through delivery. May engage and oversee the work of external vendors. Assigns, directs, and monitors system analysis and program staff. These positions' primary focus is project/program management, rather than the application of expertise in a specialized functional field of knowledge although they may have technical team members. Senior Program Management professional. Responsible for overall governance across all operational and strategic portfolio of projects; strong management and leadership skills; should be well experienced and comfortable presenting to C level executives; ability to drive structure and organization; extensive working knowledge of portfolio and project management tools and methodologies; ability to quickly assimilate information and make informed decisions; logical, analytical thinker with great influencing, written and verbal communication abilities; ability to handle multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity; provide oversight over the strategic and operational portfolios; manage strategic relationship with Corporate EPMO and IT. Manage the issue escalation/resolution process.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

+ Manages programs using staff and matrixed resources with oversight from AVP and VP as needed

+ Serves as industry Subject Matter Expert in the functional area and leads programs to meet critical needs

+ Escalates gaps and barriers in implementation and compliance to AVP, VP and senior management

+ Consultative role, develops business case methodologies for programs, develops and coordinates implementation of business strategy

+ Collaborates and facilitates activities with other units at corporate and Molina Plans.
