In this newly created position, the Engineering Services Director will organize all of the Engineering applications and processes to take Symbotic to the next level. This includes PLM, CAD tools, and process standardization and enforcement along with overall responsibility for engineering change management. You'll bring your vision and experience to drive our systems the best way, interacting with our strategic manufacturing partners and internal stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee and drive revision and development of all engineering standards including, but not limited to, documentation standards, CAD processes, PLM, and Change Management.
  • Oversee external technical publications team for instructions, training materials, and other customer facing documentation needs.
  • Oversee CAD support team for Solidworks , AutoCAD Mechanical and Electrical, Ansys, and RevIT .
  • Lead execution of new PLM system in conjunction with ERP development team.


What You'll Need:

  • Experience in PLM system management and process development
  • SAP or Oracle strongly preferred
  • Establishment of a new PLM or transferring PLM system experience is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in one or more of the primary CAD/CAE tools ( Solidworks , AutoCAD, RevIT , Ansys)
  • Strong ECN and document control expertise
  • At least 5 years in a people management capacity, overseeing first line managers strongly preferred.

As the Director of Engineering Services, you'll be part of a fast growing, highly innovative SaaS business - driving results in several advanced areas: Software Architecture, AWS cloud hosting, and DevOps best practices.

The Director of Engineering Services is a highly influential, multi-disciplined technology leader who oversees our Cloud Operations, DevOps, and Architecture teams and best practices. In this three-fold role, the Director will lead teams chartered with managing all AWS hosting aspects of our SaaS product suite, maturing our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipelines, and leading our “NextGeneration” Platform transformation program - which includes full-stack architectural changes focused on: scale and performance, user experience, zero-downtime, cost effectiveness, and real-time data reporting.

What You Will Do
Manage our Software Architects, design best practices, own our long-term Architectural vision
Provide operational direction for Cloud Operations around security, scalability, provisioning, and deployments
Drive maturity with monitoring our applications, services, and infrastructure for both Uptime & APDEX
Work with both Development and Operations team to successfully launch new features and services using containers and serverless technologies
Establish, measure, and manage Cloud Operations service level agreements and objectives and improve related processes
Establish cloud hosting and database governance guidelines, and improve change management processes to reduce risk
Partner with cross-departmental leaders to understand needs and pain-points and alignment of cross-functional goals
Serve as an escalation point for urgent services and engineering needs
Manage our DevOps (CICD) roadmap for each supported application and continue to reach new levels of continuous testing and short, iterative release cycles

Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability scans, and static analysis tools or services is preferred

Serverless technologies and auto-scaling
Trunk-Based-Development & Feature Flags
Microservices Architecture
AWS Well Architected Framework
Relational & Columnar database technologies (such as SQL, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake)
