This is a comprehensive role that directs and manages the activities of A4A in areas of engineering and maintenance. The Managing Director provides strategic leadership and coordination for member technical issues, regulatory comment consolidation and oversight of the Engineering, Maintenance and Materiel Council (EMMC), including its subordinate committees, such as the Airworthiness Committee and Maintenance Safety Committee, industry groups and networks. The role also serves as a key liaison with the FAA and other regulatory bodies, OEMs and industry stakeholders.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and analyze U.S. and international regulatory and legislative developments affecting member technicaloperations while providing strategic advice and facilitating consensus responses to proposed rulemaking, including airworthiness directives and safety initiatives
Coordinate the EMMC strategy and work plan in response to objectives and significant emerging issues
Enhance member access to FAA and other regulatory authorities with oversight of technicaloperations
Responsible for A4A's partnership with Aviation Week in presenting the annual "MRO Americas" conference and exhibition
Responsible for the annual A4A-produced Nondestructive Testing Forum
Support the development and implementation of industry standards, such as ATA specifications and other technical guidance documents
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred) or aviation related field
Diverse aviation experience including 10 or more years of experience with a major airline-at least five in technicaloperations
Ability to navigate complex environments, build consensus and achieve goals effectively
Ability to build and maintain relationships within A4A staff, members, FAA, OEMs and other aviation stakeholders, while interacting effectively with executive-level staff from government and private sectors
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities
Excellent public speaking and written communication skills with an ability to develop and deliver persuasive messages to a variety of audiences
Experience planning and executing large events
Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading collaborative initiatives to success
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Political acumen and adaptability
WORK ENVIRONMENT
If approved by department supervisors, A4A employees have the option to work from home on Fridays. All employees are expected to work in the office Monday through Thursday.
SALARY INFORMATION
The annual salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000. Typically, new hires are brought into the organization at a salary between the minimum and midpoint for the role, depending on experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Drives the architecture decisioning for the Brands' Contact Center technology, infrastructure, server and cloud strategies related to onboard and digital technologies including oversight of the data center facilities and technology stacks. Heavily influences design and architecture decisioning for commercial and shipboard networks, and Guest and Crew Internet.
Demonstrates ability to create 3-5-year roadmaps while exercising flexibility when priorities change.
Takes a collaborative cross-functional team approach when finalizing his or her infrastructure recommendations.
Leads the process of providing subject matter guidance to other peers within the brands' IT organization.
Engages with stakeholders across corporate IT, shipboard teams, third-party vendors, and executive leadership to align technology strategies with operational goals.
Collaborates closely with internal infrastructure, security, and application teams, as well as managed service providers, to ensure project alignment and service excellence.
Drives strategic planning and decision-making meetings, representing brand priorities in multi-brand and enterprise-level discussions.
Balances and reconciles competing needs across business units to ensure shared ownership of infrastructure and service outcomes.
Ensures compliance with corporate security protocols, including PCI and data protection regulations, across both shore and fleet environments.

How you'll make an Impact

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $100,000.00 and $130,000.00 per year, plus an annual on‑target bonus if applicable, not all roles are subject to a bonus. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple non‑discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

As a member of the service line leadership team, you will shape the strategy and technical impact of our Application Innovation Practice by guiding consulting skills and capabilities that enable us to realize our clients' highest-value opportunities, address their most critical challenges, and transform their enterprises through modern engineering and AI adoption. As a seasoned technology and consulting leader, you'll leverage your deep experience architecting, developing, and deploying modern cloud and AI-based applications on Microsoft Azure. You'll lead high-performing teams to deliver enterprise-scale transformation initiatives and offerings spanning application modernization, cloud-native development, AI engineering, and developer productivity enablement. You'll guide a multidisciplinary team of architects, consultants, and engineers who design and implement solutions that use Azure Native, modern AI across the Azure/Microsoft stack to enable intelligent applications, automation, and generative experiences.
Responsibilities
Shape and execute the strategy for Neudesic's Application Innovation and AI Engineering practice.
Design and as needed, lead, complex client solutions and engagements focused on AI-enabled modernization, intelligent application design, and digital transformation.
Architect and deliver AI-first solutions that combine modern software engineering, cloud scalability, and generative intelligence.
Partner with Microsoft and internal Neudesic/IBM teams to align with joint go-to-market and innovation initiatives in AI and Cloud.
Coach and mentor consultants and architects on modern engineering practices, responsible AI, GitHub Copilot adoption, and agentic AI patterns (RAG, orchestration, reasoning, etc.).
Engage in executive-level discussions to define modernization roadmaps and AI strategy aligned to business outcomes.
Contribute to thought leadership and reusable accelerators (e.g., Neudesic's Nexus, DIP, Kinisi, Ploceus, and AI Foundry solutions).
Oversee project delivery excellence, ensure adherence to engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvement across distributed teams.
Qualifications
Proven success as a consulting leader or director driving modern cloud and software engineering initiatives.
Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure, including PaaS services, Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Search, and Azure Machine Learning.
Strong understanding of AI Engineering principles-data preparation, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, model fine-tuning, and agentic orchestration.
Mastery of software architecture patterns including event-driven, microservices, domain-driven design (DDD), and API-first.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional delivery teams and partnering with product, data, and AI specialists to deliver measurable outcomes.
Experience with DevOps and modern SDLC pipelines using GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, ARM).
Executive presence and communication skills to engage C-level clients and drive strategic decisions.
