Pay: $80,000 - $115,000 + Bonus + 5K Sign-on
The Maintenance & Refrigeration Lead is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the Maintenance and Refrigeration teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all utilities and production equipment across the facility. This includes systems such as refrigeration (preferably ammonia), cogeneration, boilers, compressed air, and water. The Lead is accountable for daily maintenance scheduling, troubleshooting, safety oversight, team leadership, and coordination of both corrective and preventative maintenance. This role also serves as a hands-on technical expert and liaison between maintenance and production operations.
What You Will Do:
Team Leadership & Oversight
Supervise refrigeration mechanics, coil cleaners, cogen operators, and maintenance technicians.
Lead passdown meetings and ensure alignment across shifts.
Assign, coordinate, and follow up on daily work schedules and emergency repairs.
Monitor team compliance with lunch/breaks and shift safety procedures.
Support evaluations and development plans for maintenance team members.
Reallocate technicians as needed to meet changing priorities.
Maintenance & Utilities Operations
Perform and assign preventive and corrective maintenance on all utilities systems: refrigeration, steam, water, air compressors, and cogeneration equipment.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, troubleshoot systems, and execute repairs or upgrades.
Ensure uptime of critical equipment by implementing lifecycle management best practices.
Pull and report data for regulatory agencies (e.g., SCAQMD).
Maintain wrench time at 95% or above; ensure accurate and timely entry in CMMS.
Planning, Scheduling & Documentation
Work with planners to scope, kit, and assign work orders.
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance tasks.
Manage parts procurement, quotes, and inventory tracking.
Support planning calendars and ensure labor and parts readiness for future jobs.
Review and verify work orders for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Ensure full utilization of CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and metrics reporting.
Facilities & General Maintenance
Support facility services and minor building moves or repairs.
Assign and coordinate vendor or contractor work for high-complexity tasks.
Perform general building upkeep: electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, machining.
Assist with inspections and internal/external audits.
Safety, Compliance & Training
Enforce GMP, PPE, HACCP, sanitation, and plant safety protocols.
Conduct lock-out/tag-out procedures and routine safety inspections.
Train and develop technicians to support food safety and OSHA compliance.
Ensure all personnel complete required technical and safety training.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Physically able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly
+10 years of refrigeration maintenance experience (preferably ammonia-based)
Strong understanding of utilities equipment including cogen systems
Experience with team leadership and technical supervision
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required

Key Objectives:
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Facility Manager, the maintenance engineer will help maintain, repair and install various equipment, hardware as directed by the facilities management team. Located just north of Baton Rouge, LA and west of Zachary, LA, the Port Hudson mill employs about 350 people and has two tissue/towel paper machines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Quilted Northern and Brawny . The paper machines are state of the art for manufacturing of premium tissue paper. The Gulf Coast is only an hour away. There is plenty of history in the area to explore as well. For urban activities, Baton Rouge and New Orleans are just a short drive away.
What You Will Do
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery
Perform precision maintenance tasks on various industrial manufacturing processes, including paper machines, converting assets and more
Contribute to our reliability vision by striving to create an environment where equipment consistently operates as designed, runs predictably, and avoids unexpected failures.
Execute and improve the lubrication program
Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in safety program

Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, company policies, and manufacturer specifications.
Stay informed about local, state, and federal amusement ride safety regulations.
Participate in safety drills and training sessions as required.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other mechanics, engineers, and ride operators to ensure smooth daily operations.
Provide input on ride improvements and upgrades.
Assist with training ride operators and staff on basic troubleshooting and safety protocols.
Emergency Response:

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in an amusement park or similar environment.
Skills:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety practices related to mechanical and electrical repair.
Certifications:
Certification in ride safety (e.g., NAARSO, AIMS) is highly desirable.
Forklift or aerial lift operation certification preferred.
Physical Requirements

Requirements & Skills:
The ideal candidate should have experience in broadcast system engineering as well as have experience working in live broadcast environments. Should hold a B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science or have demonstrable equivalent experience. The candidate should have notable experience related to broadcast systems design and integration. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Windows and MAC operating systems preferred. Must be a television system problem-solver and troubleshooter for live events and broadcasts. Flexible work schedule required, shift may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
