Essential Responsibilities
Deliver instruction in mixing and scratching on turntables/consoles using Bach to Rock's proprietary curriculum and specific methodology.
Deliver instruction in music production using Bach to Rock's proprietary curriculum and Ableton Live.
Manage classroom time effectively to balance student needs and attention.
Adapt to students interested in diverse styles (e.g., hip hop, pop, rock, house, oldies).
Coach DJ students for live performances.
Create an encouraging, fun, and focused lesson atmosphere.
Assign homework via MyB2R.
Monitor and assess student progress based on learned concepts using Bach to Rock curriculum.
Discuss student progress with parents.
Submit student report cards twice annually.
Attend required staff meetings.
Prepare and conduct student recitals and showcase events.
Assess a student's readiness to join a band or ensemble.
Assist at school events.
Provide administrative/logistical support, as needed, such as
Move, set up, and break down equipment at the school and events
Perform minor repair and maintenance of school equipment
Assist with equipment inventory
Use paid downtime (late or no-show students) to help keep school “Tour Ready!”

Teaching certificate and or degrees in music preferred; those who are currently enrolled in a music degree program will also be considered.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and mac OS and iOS.
Language Skills
Must be proficient in speaking and writing in English.

An individual in this position is expected to: • Assess the risk a youth's behavior poses to the public and provide supervision at a level commensurate with that risk to enhance community safety; • Ensure youth are held accountable by: utilizing sanctions and incentives to promote pro-social behaviors; overseeing victim reparation activities including the payment of restitution and the performance of community service work; make appropriate referrals for services in the community: authorize the filing of a petition when warranted. • Determine the treatment and rehabilitative needs of youth under supervision and coordinate the delivery of services to promote the development of those competencies necessary for them to successfully transition to adulthood. This position is the entry level classification within the Case Management Specialist series. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Candidates may substitute possession of an Associate of Arts degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university and two years of experience providing direct services to children in a community or residential setting for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification must obtain certification by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification that are employed at DJS Youth Centers may be required to complete a Board approved medication technician training program and possess a valid Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) certification as a Medication Technician.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. In accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the Maryland Correctional Training Commission shall establish the minimum qualifications for probationary or permanent appointment of a Department of Juvenile Services employee in a mandated position. Main Purpose of Job
The DJS Resident Advisor Lead position provides lead level of work, as it relates to providing supervision and guidance to youth residing in a facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services. The Resident Advisor Lead observes, interacts and assists youth with everyday life skills and advises them of appropriate alternative behaviors. This position also trains, assigns, and reviews the work of lower-level DJS Resident Advisors, but they do not perform the full range of supervisory duties. The Resident Advisor Lead must possess a full certification from MCTC and maintain MCTC certification on an annual basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One and one half years of experience providing supervision and guidance to youth in a juvenile facility or juvenile services community program for at-risk youth. Notes: 1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209, Annotated Code of Maryland. 2.
