Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this position exists is to receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public to the Montgomery Emergency Communications Center (ECC) using a highly specialized computer telephony system and software application and enter data received into a computerized dispatch system to assist dispatcher(s) with emergency response. The work responsibilities include processing emergencies; initiating and performing Emergency Medical Dispatch; query, enter and receive critical law enforcement information using local, state, and national level database systems and performing department administrative/clerical duties. ECOIs report directly to a Public Safety Communications Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must have completed a data entry operations course at a technical institute or six (6) months of experience as a data entry operator, telephone operator, or a receptionist type position receiving and/or transmitting telephone, radio, or alarm system calls.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
As a condition of continued employment, you must pass a background check and drug test. Must be willing to respond to the Emergency Communications Center when requested for man-made and natural disasters that could include working irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Employee must obtain and maintain certification for APCO Emergency Medical Dispatcher and NCIC. Must be 18 years old.

Collect feed samples form both PDI and QA testing.
Review current feed inventory compared to orders and communicate needs to Feed Operator.
Scheduling feed delivery on shift and anticipating when drivers are scheduled to return ensuring drive.

Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform the technical work needed to process calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance, and to dispatch fire and police responders to those requests for services. The work responsibilities of this position include answering emergency and administrative calls, providing pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions as warranted, and dispatching the most appropriate emergency response personnel using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and a land mobile radio network. Employees in this position will learn to dispatch radio systems for fire and police. Public Safety Communications Dispatchers are direct reports to the Public Safety Communications Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have six (6) months of experience as a 9-1-1 dispatcher or communications operator with a public safety organization using a computer-aided dispatch system.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, must be able to type at least 32 wpm, and must sign a willingness statement. The City of Montgomery's Emergency Communications Center operates around the clock, every day of the year. Successful candidates will need to be available for shifts outside typical business hours, including weekends and most holidays. However, employees are compensated accordingly for their flexibility and dedication.
