Job Summary:
This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies in Phoenix.
Under direct supervision during training period, and under limited supervision thereafter, is responsible for simultaneously operating a multi-channel radio console and a multi-line telephone, while maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems and other computer systems. Responsible for receiving, coordinating and disseminating critical information from various sources and maintaining radio contact with mobile/field units to monitor response, progress and any needed support.
This position works in the Communications Center which is responsible for answering 9-1-1 calls in a 24/7 operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and one (1) year of clerical, customer service or public contact experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain ACJIS Terminal Operator Certification within six months of hire and maintain certification throughout the course of this assignment with the Department.
Must be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute or equivalent keystrokes in CAD and/or other computer programs for accurate and timely information entry within six months of hire.
Holidays, weekends, irregular hours and shift work may be required with possible extension of shift hours, at times with short notice.
Limited travel is necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
24 hour/7 day emergency dispatcher center operation setting.
Work is performed in a confined area with limited mobility.
May be required to sit for extended periods of time with limited or no breaks.
Must successfully complete the examination process.

Duties

What We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in dispatching, scheduling, or coordinating service teams (plumbing or similar industry preferred).
Proficiency in ServiceTitan - Experience using the platform for scheduling, job tracking, and reporting.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a high-paced environment.
Outstanding communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and adapt to changing schedules.
Familiarity with plumbing services and terminology is a plus.

General Purpose: Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Identifies and dispatches appropriate law enforcement, fire, and emergency service units, and gathers and relays critical information, complies with Police and Fire Department policies and procedures to assure the safety of officers and the public.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, interviews callers, gathers details, prioritizes calls for service, and determines appropriate personnel to respond, dispatches emergency responders. Relays pertinent information to law enforcement and emergency services officers concisely and provides information and assistance to the public within the scope of authority.
Provides detailed call information to officers as needed, maintains status and awareness of police patrol unit locations, monitors message traffic, and relays information to officers.
Enters emergency assistance calls into the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) incident logs, inputs information into the ACJIS & NCIC computer system, and maintains records and files.
Contacts other law enforcement agencies for additional information and resources and relays pertinent information regarding incidents.
Notifies key City of Williams personnel on critical incidents and follows all Department policies and procedures to assure that officer and public safety is the top priority.
Enters and verifies warrant information and confirms warrants for other agencies.
Performs inquiries and criminal history checks for officers through ACJIS and NCIC; sends inquiries to other agencies for warrant confirmations or general information.
Enters data for records and reports; processes forms and records files-queries system databases as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Any combination of training and experience demonstrates the potential ability to perform the position's duties. Must be able to pass a background check.

What you will do:

Good communications and interpersonal skills; ability to speak Spanish or other non-English language including American Sign Language is helpful.
Information Systems terminals, computerized alarm monitoring systems, computerized access control systems or other computer or technical systems.
Knowledgeable of and ability to accurately interpret applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position and daily responsibilities.

Certifications in CPR, First Aid and First Responder are preferred.
Valid Arizona Driver's license in good standing; must be insurable.
Must successfully pass a drug test.
