We are actively seeking a qualified individual with customer service experience to join our team as a 911 Dispatcher. This critical role involves receiving and broadcasting information through telephone, radio, and several computer systems to ensure safety of officers as well as the public. Dispatchers are required to maintain records, files, and information for prompt dissemination to field units and departmental personnel. They are the vital communications link to the residents, the police department, fire department and other essential services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
· Operates a multi-line telephone console system.
· Provides dispatch and communication support to police, fire, emergency and related services.
· Dispatches and coordinates the responses of public safety services.
· Receives and responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls and complaints.
· Asks questions to interpret, analyze, and anticipate the caller's situation and provides pre-arrival instruction for emergency calls for service.
· Follows department protocols to identify the appropriate number and type of equipment or apparatus to dispatch.
· Monitors and operates a radio console and associated computer equipment.
· Enters, retrieves, modifies and deletes data from LEIN system, CLEMIS, CLEAR systems, and Computer Aided Dispatch system.
· Retrieves and prints daily reports as necessary.
· Monitors prisoners, holding cells, and other pertinent areas of Township property.
· Provides professional customer service to citizens at the front desk.
· Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma/GED
· Less than 1 year experience
· Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities

What does it take to get hired in our Service Center?
There are lots of qualities we are hoping to find in anyone who applies. But we don't have a lot of hoops to jump through. Absolutely no prior experience is necessary. There are just five key things you'll need to be able to do:
You can type at least 40 words per minute. We'll conduct a test. Feel free to prep and take practice runs at typingcore.com.
You know your way around a computer and the internet.
You can communicate fluently in English (reading, speaking and writing).
You can commit to training which will be 3 shifts. You can choose between day & evening sessions.
You are available to work a minimum of three shifts per week. We're open seven days a week. The three (or more) shifts may be any combination of the shift times below. (Multiple options that work for you are better, or you may opt to have all be from the same shift time.)
