What you will be doing:
Logs all orders booked and all work performed onto dispatch sheet
Dispatches all runs in a timely manner to ensure deliveries are made as scheduled
Moves loaded and empty containers to and from the rail in order to meet pre-scheduled cut-off times for export loads and to prevent storage charges for inbound loads and empties
Maintains an accurate inventory of equipment
Provides customers with accurate and timely information regarding activity and equipment inventories
Assists in billing by writing up cover sheets and matching with work orders or delivery orders
Assists Terminal Manager in all phases of managing the operation
Compiles list of available vehicles
Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight requirements, and preference of user
Issues keys, record sheets, credentials, and equipment to drivers
Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return
Investigates overdue vehicles
Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio
Tracks in-transit shipments
Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise
Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses
Establishes service or delivery routes
