About Role
Summary
As a member of the Transportation Team you will have daily interaction with Owner Operator and Food Hauler drivers. You will be responsible for the dispatching of trailer loads, accurately compiling and maintaining driver logs, ensuring that on-time delivery commitments are met, as well as tracking trailer movement in a 7 day operation: Sunday through Saturday. To be successful in this position, the candidate must have familiarity with transportation and distribution practices in a multi-dock, fast paced environment. Additionally, this position requires technical abilities and working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
1st Shift Schedule : 6:30am-2:30pm
Essential Functions
The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Understanding and working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations

You will oversee the coordination of pickup requests, dispatch local truck drivers, and ensure accurate and timely communication with warehouses, carriers, and internal teams. This position requires strong multitasking ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to operate confidently in fast-paced, real-time environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pickup Planning & Route Assignment
Pickup Scheduling: Review daily pickup requests from warehouse teams, vendors, and system-generated orders, converting them into clear and executable driver assignments.
Route Consolidation: Combine same-area or same-facility pickups to reduce empty miles and increase driver efficiency.

2. Dispatching Drivers & Communication

Performance Tracking: Monitor driver progress through tracking tools and maintain constant visibility of all active pickups.
Status Updates: Ensure every pickup status is clearly recorded-picked up, failed, completed, or needed exception support.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination
Warehouse Coordination: Communicate directly with warehouse teams to confirm pickup readiness, pallet counts, and required equipment.
Carrier & Line-Haul Sync: Work closely with the line-haul team to ensure picked-up freight is properly transferred to outbound trucks without delay.
Exception Management: Collaborate with QA/QC or Operations teams to resolve discrepancies such as missing pallets, incorrect manifests, or late pickups.
Documentation Accuracy: Ensure all paperwork, BOLs, manifests, and pickup confirmations are correctly captured and uploaded.
4. Operational Floor Presence
Maintain visibility on the warehouse dispatch floor when necessary, interacting with warehouse staff, verifying outgoing freight, and ensuring drivers receive accurate pickup instructions.

Job Summary:
The Dispatch Supervisor serves as a leader and provides guidance to delivery teams and independent contractors. Responsible for directing daily activities of the delivery teams and independent contractors including labor, scheduling, and supervision of day-to-day operations. Oversees and guides dispatchers following Metropolitan's set standards and quality guidelines for deliveries. Assists and provides guidance for different dispatch duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Works alongside Customer Service and the Final Mile Manager to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time deliveries
Keeps all parties informed of scheduling or delivery issues, identifying and implementing solutions
Assigns drivers and vehicles to load trucks for assigned destinations
Oversees delivery teams and independent contractors of proper actions regarding customer, logistics or other problems that could affect scheduled deliveries
Monitors exceptions not limited to late departures or arrivals, breakdowns, in-home service time, NAH, go backs, accidents, product or in-home damages, delivery team illness or injury, HOS, unplanned billing, trends.
Tracks driver assignments and other shipping data in a computer database
Organizes and files Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and driver's documentation as needed
Sends Proof of Delivery (POD) coversheets to finance department to review driver manifests
Monitors inbound/outbound emails as well as attached Proof of Deliveries (PODs)
Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
1-3 years relevant logistics/dispatch experience collectively considered
Previous knowledge of relevant policies, practices and procedures and requirements/standards
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, contractors, supervisors and the public requiring courtesy, discretion and independent judgment.
Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and reporting skills
Knowledge of MS Office and other operational or client systems
Ability to safeguard customers' personal information.

Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed - due to the nature of the EMS industry we operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Preferred Experience:
Previous Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience, Strongly Preferred
Previous experience utilizing Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) systems or similar systems
