At Amarillo College, our students are the priority. It is our mission and responsibility to enrich their lives by helping them identify and educational pathway that will lead them to success in life. It is therefore, required that every team member, regardless of job titles or duties be responsible, first and foremost, for assisting students in every way.

We are currently seeking a Distance Learning Adult Basic Education (ABE) high school equivalency (HSE) coordinator. The Distance Learning HSE Coordinator will develop and manage the online distance learning program. Train DL instructional team. Teach students the necessary lessons for successful completion of the High School Equivalency (HSE) examination administered in four areas, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. The Distance Learning coordinator will also assist in preparing students for post-secondary education. Also, prepares lesson plans and manages online classroom instruction using high engagement practices and retention strategies.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Education

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Teaching ability in Adult Basic Education or High School Equivalency, Experience with teaching online classes, Preferably Blackboard LMS

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Develop and Manage the distance learning program.

Create and facilitate the DL student orientation.

Completes the annual Distance Learning TWC Plan.

Hire, train, and evaluate the CRU distance learning instructional team.

Teach one or more online GED course/s.

Prepare and facilitate high-engagement learning activities for weekly online class meetings.

Manage and maintain the cohorts of the new student enrollment process.

Upload the provided curriculum into the online management system, Blackboard.

Use a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques to address all learning styles and cultural differences through an online medium.

Create learner-centered lessons with high engagement activities and effective retention practices for online students.

Administer the approved TWC assessment and progress assessments.

Regularly Collaborate with other instructors and professionals in the development of individual students' needs and progress.

Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required.

Run required TEAMS reports and use other Adult Education computer systems. (Training Provided.)

Be willing to be flexible and grow.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of adult basic education math content.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.

Ability to work with with educational technologies, such as Zoom, Google Suite, Remind, and Microsoft Office

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required travel between offices, buildings and required the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Schedule: The schedule will be base on the applicant's availability.

Work Environment: This position is located in Amarillo, Texas and operates in a professional environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications.

Travel Expectations: Some travel may be required for this position. Be knowledgeable with Amarillo College travel policy.

Salary: pay grade 11
