PDM Field Engineer I

The PDM Field Engineer I is based at a jobsite and is responsible for facilitating the interface between the jobsite and the home office engineering staff. When not assigned to a jobsite, the PDM Field Project Engineer I will be assigned to a Matrix engineering office to perform design and project engineering tasks in support of current projects.
Essential Functions
Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.

Assists the construction team with the interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
Communicates and transfers engineering data to aid field staff and craft.
Communicates and transfers field issues to engineering group to improve engineering deliverables for efficient fabrication, erection, installation and testing of pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping and equipment.
Participates in constructability and model reviews.
Documents and assists in the resolution of technical issues that arise at the jobsite.
Supports construction with RFI's from the Field to Engineering and assists in maintaining the RFI log.
Observes the work being performed and coordinates with Engineering to address any deviations from the drawings and specifications.
Assists the material receipt personnel by performing receipt inspections including coordination of non-conformance resolution with the cognizant Engineers and Procurement for incoming engineered equipment and components.
Facilitates Engineering's review of rigging plans.
Supports with pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Supports in conducting and documenting facility performance tests when within the project scope.
Supports the construction superintendent regarding construction planning requiring engineering interface.
Coordinates site visit timing and requirements for engineering discipline EORs observations and sign-off.
Works on special projects as assigned and directed by supervisor, the project engineer, or by the construction team.
Travels to meetings with customers and vendors as required.
Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical or other related discipline required.
Entry-level Engineer; no experience required but field experience on construction project sites highly preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills.
Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
Ability to work on multiple activities at one time.
Strong computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word are required.
Travel Requirements - assignments will be field positions at construction sites throughout North America with periodic stints in an office including a potential initial office assignment to learn the Matrix way.

Essential skills and experience:
+ BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
+ 12 years of transmission design experience.
+ Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
+ Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.
+ Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
+ Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
+ Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

A Staff Physical Designer - Substation will perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, specifications, and electrical plans as part of a project team. This project will directly execute complex, early design phases while partnering with diverse firms and international resources on detailed design work.
+ Perform various electrical project designs including substation plan layouts, section cuts, physical details, ground grid design, lightning design and other physical substation components. Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
+ Perform drawing, planning, development and production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
+ Perform a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and refining rough sketches.
+ Perform the evaluation of designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance.
+ Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
+ Perform production of design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
+ Compute volume calculations for conduit, lightning, grounding designs under the direction of the engineer.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and seven years related experience or associate's degree and eight years related experience or nine years progressive detailing and design experience.
+ Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
+ Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
+ Advanced knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
+ Advanced knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.

**Job Description**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Work within hospital radiology environment to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
+ Complete Preventative Maintenance on designated equipment.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.

Our Transmission Line Engineers are expected to maintain a high attention to detail, possess working knowledge of Transmission Line design, demonstrate ownership of their work, drive for continual improvement, and collaborate effectively with their team and clients in order to make our clients successful.
