Distribution system operator job description

Workers organizes and participates in conveys; dispatched vehicles; verifies logbooks; received and fills requests from authorized persons for motor support; and compiles time, mileage, and load data. Worker may operate vehicles such as the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Transport (HEMETT), Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET), and Palletized Loading System (PLS) vehicles to include performing self-recovery operations. Truck Drivers are classified by type and the rated capacity of truck; drivers must possess the appropriate CDL classification for their job category, have attended a course regarding Ammo Awareness, as well as , one that certifies worker to transport Hazardous Materials (see classes under ECO and HAZMAT Technician) and have at a minimum, four (4) years like experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications must include HAZMAT endorsement, Class A CDL and X (Tanker) endorsements.

Candidate must have Fort Hood Fuel Handling with HAZMAT Endorsement qualified or have the ability to complete the course requirements.

You must be able to prioritize workload in order to maintain schedule on assigned projects. As well as be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Candidate must be able to deal with stressful situations while maintaining a professional attitude at all times.

Must be able to work different shifts as required, be able to travel as needed, and be able to obtain and maintain security clearances and access as required by the contract.

Working Conditions

Candidate must be able to work in a maintenance environment; be willing to work in and around maintenance equipment, be subject to load noises, exhaust fumes, dust, and extreme weather conditions and be able to work all shifts as needed, shift times/work weeks may be altered to meet customer requirements with minimum amount of notification.

Physical Requirements

Candidate must be able to safely move about in a maintenance environment and be able to sit, stand, squat, walk, and talk for extended periods during shift.

A day in the life

• Collaborate with others to ensure timely, accurate, and uniform communication is relayed to members and employees regarding outages, power quality issues, billing, safety, and system integrity issues.
• Provide calming, compassionate responses and guidance in stressful situations.
• Monitor, respond to, and control the distribution system using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

Requirements

• Two-year degree related to distribution system operations, electrical engineering technology, or system design, or a combination of education and experience.

Specialized knowledge

• Understand electrical distribution system control room equipment and software applications for the purpose of documenting electric service power quality issues and interruptions.
• Read maps for dispatching line personnel to outage sites.
• Understand electrical distribution construction practices.

Position: Fuel Distribution Systems Operator (FDSO)

Location: Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (GTMO), Cuba

This is a 2-year contract at NS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Housing, Utilities, Transportation and Medical/Dental insurance is provided and paid by the Company.

10 holidays, 11 days of R&R every 6 months. No entry into Cuba is authorized. Income may be tax free according to the IRS rules on foreign income.

Fuel Distribution System Operators (FDSO) shall be qualified to receive, handle, and issue petroleum products, to include used oils, and complete the accounting and administrative functions related thereto. He/she shall have practical experience in all facets of fuel distribution systems to include: pipeline systems, storage tanks, pumps, valves, fuel monitors and filters, truck fill stands, barge & port fueling, used oil storage and disposal facilities, and service station facilities (manual and automated). He/she shall be able to convert gauge and temperature readings to quantities of products and shall be able to perform quality assurance functions. He/she shall be able to correlate pressures, temperatures, and quantities as read from various gauges and meters normally found at a fuel facility. Operators shall have a basic understanding of written description and instructions pertaining to facility operations, shall be able to implement cyclic maintenance programs and safety programs relating to all aspects of facility operation, and shall have demonstrated expertise in spill cleanup procedures, prevention and control measures, related equipment operation and maintenance. Operators shall have experience in inspecting trucks and other modes of conveyance and be capable of various types of petroleum sampling of storage tanks, trucks, fill stands, etc. Hazardous waste handlers shall be “certified” as required by Federal, State, or local laws and Navy/base regulations as applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Military Service in all facets of fuel distribution is required.

Minimum of FIVE-years' experience in operating fuel bulk storage and distribution systems and equipment.

Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug-screening

Must have or be able to obtain a United States Secret level Security clearance.

Must Have a Valid US Tourist (Blue Cover) Passport.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Must be able to drive a Standard Manual Transmission Fuel Truck

Must be able to safely ascend and descend above ground tanks over 100' in height

Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and after hours support as needed.

Should have basic mechanical knowledge (Change tire, check/add Oil etc.)

Must be able to physically maneuver a 20-foot fuel hose and nozzle weighing 60 pounds to connect and refill fuel truck. Must be able to lift and pull 50' hose with 1” nozzle and be able to lift overhead and hand off to generator operator to conduct refueling of generators.
