DKS Associates company history timeline

1985

1985 DKS is selected to lead the traffic engineering design and transit priority project for Long Beach Los Angeles Blue Line LRT, the first LRT line in the LA Metro area.

1989

1989 John Long relocates from the Oakland office to open a Sacramento office.

1990

1990 Randy McCourt and Peter Coffey move from Oakland to open the first non-California office in Portland, Oregon.

1995

1995 Jerry Wentzel joins DKS and opens the Tampa, Florida office, establishing a long-standing relationship with the Florida Department of Transportation.

1999

1999 Chris Long moves from the Oakland office to start the Puget Sound office after winning the Seattle Central Link LRT Final Traffic Engineering project with Sound Transit.

2005

2005 DKS wins the DART/City of Dallas Downtown LRT Traffic Signal System project and opens its Texas office.

2008

2008 Scott Mansur moves from the Portland office to open the Salem office, expanding the firm’s work with the City of Salem, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and Marion County.

2011

2011 DKS becomes a 100% employee-owned corporation as an S-Corp ESOP.

2013

2013 FHWA National Safety Award: Bill Loudon recognized for extraordinary achievement by individuals working to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on the nation’s roadways

2015

2015 DKS hires Adrian Pearmine as the National Director for Smart Cities and Connected Vehicles.

2019

2019 DKS celebrates 40 years of success thanks to dedicated clients and a talented staff whose mission is to shape a smarter transportation experience.
