Overview As a DoD SkillBridge intern, you'll have the opportunity to apply your military experience in a civilian setting while building new skills in program and project management. Responsibilities Introduction to Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) & Depot Relationship * Define PBL and explain how it supports readiness and cost-effective sustainment. * Describe how Depot operations support Navy mission requirements. * Identify the roles of government, partners, and Depot in a PBL environment. * Explain how technician tasks tie into overall PBL performance outcomes. Introduction to Depot-Level Repair Objectives * Understand the purpose and scope of depot-level repair. * Identify major depot repair processes such as teardown, inspection, repair, test, and return-to-service. * Explain how depot repairs differ from organizational/intermediate-level maintenance. * Describe technician responsibilities within the depot repair workflow. Application of Depot-Level Repair Objectives * Apply understanding of depot repair processes through scenario-based tasks. * Demonstrate how repair objectives impact throughput, cost, and readiness metrics. * Understand how to interpret depot work instructions and technical manuals (TMs) and technical data packages (TDPs) to include schematics and electronic diagrams. * Describe the quality and documentation requirements associated with depot-level tasks. Equipment Readiness Levels & Their Meaning * Define readiness levels and explain how they are measured (e.g., FMC, PMC, NMCS). * Identify how maintenance actions impact readiness rates. * Interpret readiness data and explain how it supports sustainment decisions. * Understand technician roles in readiness reporting and performance improvement. Understanding of ISO Certification * Explain the purpose of ISO standards in Navy and contractor environments. * Understand core ISO principles: quality management, consistency, traceability, and continuous improvement. * Identify ISO requirements relevant to depot maintenance operations. * Recognize how non-compliance affects mission performance and audits. Establishing an ISO-Compliant Program * Identify required components of an ISO-compliant documentation system. * Learn how to develop standardized work instructions and process maps. * Understand document control requirements: versioning, approvals, storage, and access. * Practice creating draft process documents that meet ISO structure and language requirements. * Understand audit preparation and ongoing compliance expectations. Development of ISO-Based Artifacts * Demonstrate the ability to document processes clearly and in alignment with ISO formatting. * Develop repair process documentation that supports traceability and repeatability. * Participate in mock internal reviews to ensure artifacts meet audit standards. Understanding Necessary Support Tools * Identify software, systems, and digital tools used for tracking maintenance and quality data. * Demonstrate basic navigation and data-entry in relevant Navy/Depot systems. * Understand the purpose of support tools in compliance, reporting, and process control. * Recognize how tool misuse can lead to audit failure or degraded readiness reporting. Creating Databases to Track Key Material Characteristics * Learn to identify and define key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to electronic repair. * Utilize existing repair databases to track repair actions, component performance, and failure modes. * Understand data integrity principles such as completeness, accuracy, and traceability. Creating Algorithms to Extrapolate Performance Metrics * Understand the types of performance metrics used in PBL and depot environments * Learn how to apply formulas or algorithms to calculate trends, variances, and predictive indicators. * Demonstrate the ability to interpret results and make data-driven recommendations. Qualifications Active-Duty Military only within final 91 - 120 days of active-duty service. The SkillBridge Intern at a minimum should have the following: * Candidate has been pre-approved for the DoD SkillBridge Internship program. * If candidate is selected and approved, the SkillBridge Intern can travel in conjunction with this internship; DLH will fund all travel costs. * SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum an active Secret Security Clearance. * SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training * Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, or Science; or formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED. * Five (5) with degree/formal training or seven (7) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. * Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: * constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. * may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions; following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. * conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data. * extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation. * assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. * developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information. * Individual shall be capable of performing assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. * NAVY SSEE_E, SSEE_F, and SSEE Mods evaluations, diagnostics, and repair knowledge of Depot stock material. * Integrated lab testing and troubleshooting of SSEE material. Strong understanding of the interdependencies of equipment. * Must be proficient with electronic test equipment such as Signal Generators, Multimeters, Network Analyzers, and Spectrum Analyzers Desired Qualifications: * RF Circuitry board level evaluation, diagnosis and repairs. Knowledge of HF, RF, VUHF chassis, Unix and Linus Scripts. * Prior SSEE_E/F midlevel technician with recent hands-on technical experience.
