Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
Required:
12-20+ years of experience in healthcare facility design, planning, and programming.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related discipline.
Demonstrated expertise in planning and design of inpatient, outpatient, or specialty healthcare environments.
Deep knowledge of clinical workflow, room-by-room planning, and departmental relationships (ED, OR, Imaging, Inpatient Units, etc.).
Strong understanding of FGI Guidelines, building codes, and healthcare licensing requirements.
Advanced communication skills with the ability to facilitate clinical meetings and present ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Portfolio that demonstrates impactful leadership on large, complex healthcare projects.
Preferred:
Architectural registration (RA) strongly preferred.
ACHA or EDAC credentialing.

Where does the Health Fellow work? (office location)
HKS will work with the selected Health Fellow to pair them with the HKS office location and mentorship that can best support their research interests. During the interview stage, fellows can relay their office preference with firm leadership and discuss that office's ability to support their research.
How long does the fellowship last?
The fellowship is a one-year program in which the fellow splits their time between a designated research project, developed alongside their mentor team, and working alongside project teams within the HKS Health Studio. At the conclusion of the fellowship year, fellows continue working within the health studio as emerging leaders within the firm.
Base Salary Range: $62k -70k annually - Washington D.C. & Chicago locations only

Our Engineering team has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering intern. This is a seasonal position for Summer 2026 and will require approximately 40 hours of work per week in the office.
Location: Minneapolis, MN or Chicago, IL

Position Summary:
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at DLR Group you will be responsible for assisting in the design process of mechanical systems from schematics through construction administration on a wide range of building types. As part of our integrated design teams you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design.
About EPX at DLR Group:
As an intern at DLR Group, you will be a part of our Emerging Professional Experience Program. The EPX program provides diverse perspectives on the needs of a design enterprise, and the possibilities for experiences and growth within the design profession. The goal is to provide a strong foundation to build your career on and explore opportunities within the AEC industry. The program is composed of three major components: mentorship, work, and weekly classes. These classes include EP-specific onboarding, design culture, marketing and business development, sustainability, design technology, communication style education, mentoring, resource and project management, construction site opportunities, research, equity, design agency, and career next steps. You will hear from some of our top executives and integrated designers during this time!
The successful candidate will:
* Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects
* Attend design team meetings with a mechanical engineer and observe the coordination that occurs among the team members of a multi-disciplinary design team
* Assist a mechanical engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit
* Visit an active construction site (contingent on the status of local construction projects)
* Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion
Required Qualifications:
* Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program
* Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
* Interest in architectural building design
* Experience or interest with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow
* At least a third-year student in an accredited engineering program
