Position Summary DLR Group is seeking a Space Planner/ Campus Planning Analyst to bring data storytelling into our master plans with colleges and universities across the country. Analyzing space utilization and identifying key space needs is a key part of this role. You will be part of our national Campus Planning Team within our Higher Education Practice. Along with playing an integral role in our comprehensive campus and facility planning projects, you will have support to participate in facility programming, digital tool development, research, and develop new focuses for project-based analysis. What you will do:
Interact and coordinate with the national DLR Group Campus Planning Team, our institutional clients, and other firmwide planners to ensure the Group's space analytics and planning are consistent with and support broader institutional and project goals and strategies.
Analyze data (including space utilization) and communicate findings with graphics.
Collaborate to create processes that support efficiency and accuracy in our analysis.
Develop and present findings to clients.
Collaborate with architecture and interiors team members to ensure that priority space needs are accommodated within proposed design solutions.
Develop space planning reference materials, including quantitative and qualitative benchmarks.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any field.
Strong knowledge base in Excel, PowerBI, Qualtrics, etc.
Ability to analyze patterns across systems and scales.
Possess excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
Innate curiosity and continual willingness to learn.
Ability to balance high-intensity tasks and competing priorities.
Ability to work across multiple time zones with a national team and clients located from Eastern to Pacific time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:
Dual degree or multidisciplinary experience.

* Monitors owner and/or contractor directed changes for requests that fall outside of basic services agreement; notifies PM of any potential additional services
* Checks submittals (i.e., shop drawings and product data) to determine conformance with project contract documents, design intent as well as HKS standards, best practices and quality expectations
* Performs periodic site visits, observations and inspections and prepares field reports
* Interprets results of laboratory tests and implements the necessary course of action required by test results
* Applies knowledge of the effect of atmospheric conditions on building materials and components during and after construction, to include the practice of quality assurance
* Evaluates cost-related aspects of the project and administers change orders, proposed changes, construction change directives, substitutions, time delays and payment applications in accordance with contract and project requirements
* Provides feedback about issues for improvements (constructability, material appropriateness, clarity, function, equipment coordination, etc.) to project team
* Builds consensus among team members and achieve project goals by facilitating communication between Owner, Architect, Contractor and Consultants and by maintaining current knowledge of the Owner-Architect Agreement, Owner-Contractor Agreement, Architect-Consultant Agreement and any additional services agreements
* Resolves issues with inspectors and other authorities having jurisdiction while maintaining current knowledge of applicable codes for project
* Leads and collaborates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
* Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes and appropriate documents for consultant coordination meetings
* Travel may be required
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
* Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Engineering, Construction Science or related field preferred
* Typically 10+ years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
* Architectural Registration preferred
* Sustainable design accreditation preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced - expert-level experience, knowledge or skills
Intermediate - experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or work
Basic - familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and may perform elementary functions depending on role
* Advanced skills in Navisworks and Bluebeam required
* Basic skills in Revit required; intermediate preferred

Base Salary Range: $130k - 165k annually - San Francisco locations only.

Position Summary
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design of mechanical systems for buildings across a variety of sectors including Higher Education, Culture & Performing Arts, Healthcare, K-12, Justice/Civic and Energy. You will lead mechanical engineering teams to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit and manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements. As part of the integrated design team, you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs.
You will be responsible for leading the design process of mechanical building systems and preparing detailed mechanical engineering drawings and calculations. Responsibilities include management of Mechanical Designers and/or other team members.
The successful candidate will
Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
Create and coordinate documents using Revit.
Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations including code research.
Perform plumbing/fire protection calculations including code research.
Write and review specifications.
Review shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
Conduct site visits when needed.
Manage mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
10+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineer, including design of HVAC systems, central utility plants, plumbing and fire suppression systems.
Design experience in the Healthcare sector.
Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines.
Knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
LEED accreditation.
Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.
Building energy modeling experience.
