GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Geotechnical Engineer 1 to work with the Power Generation Business Sector on Power Generation and Infrastructure projects and when needed other regional client projects. Essential Duties: Perform geotechnical engineering assignments involving investigations and designs for a variety of facilities including, but not limited to: foundations for transmission lines, buildings, bridges, retaining walls and other structures; designs for natural gas pipelines and compressor stations; and design of residual waste landfills and impoundments. Our talented staff of more than 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions. We are looking to add Civil Engineer to support our Civil Engineering team in Canton, MI. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for a variety of design projects. Key Responsibilities Create detailed engineering plans and technical drawings for civil projects using AutoCAD, with a focus on site layout, grading, and drainage systems. Plan and model stormwater retention and detention systems to manage runoff and meet local environmental and engineering standards. Design grading plans that optimize land use while ensuring soil stability, proper drainage, and regulatory compliance. Compile engineering documentation for permitting processes, including stormwater management, soils geotechnical investigations, erosion control, and site development approvals. Ensure that all project designs and documentation meet local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements. Produce and manage design reports, budgets, calculations, and permitting correspondence to support project records and client needs. Client and regulatory agency correspondence. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required Open to all levels of experience. At least 1 year of relevant experience required. What You'll Do * Lead Projects: Manage construction projects from planning and procurement through construction and start-up. * Engage Clients: Serve as the primary client contact, building strong relationships and ensuring expectations are exceeded. * Coordinate Teams: Oversee inspection and testing personnel, schedule field activities, and maintain equipment. * Ensure Quality & Compliance: Monitor budgets, schedules, and safety standards while maintaining project documentation. * Drive Success: Conduct progress meetings, resolve challenges, and deliver projects on time and within scope. What We're Looking For * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. * Strong background in horizontal/vertical construction projects and materials testing. * Excellent communication skills and ability to lead teams. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, e-Builder, LMIS. * Valid driver's license and willing to use personal vehicle for job related work, as needed. * Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements. Preferred, but not required * Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. * Experience with City of Columbus and/or ODOT projects.
