Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates behaviors that are consistent with standards for professional and ethical conduct. Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues. Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees of all levels, including drivers/operators, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the general public. Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Knowledge of current and future safety trends in the transit industry. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Possess and maintain a valid CDL B with Passenger endorsement and airbrake certification. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in public transportation. Experience in administering an organizational safety program, complete with hands-on driver training and maintaining federal, state, and local compliance. Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedule as needed. Subject to DOT drug testing and physical. Physical Requirements:The essential functions of this position require the ability to: Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations. This individual will recommend measures to reduce accidents and hazards for all employees/departments and assuring that safety inspections are properly scheduled, carried out, monitored, acted upon and documented. The safety and training manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This individual will be required to exercise considerable independent judgment, and a wide degree of initiative in carrying out his or her daily responsibilities in the most costeffective and efficient manner consistent with operational requirements. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct or supervise interviewing, selection, and recruitment of adequate number of operator applicants to effectively provide safe, efficient, service. • Schedule and conduct driver training, by providing classroom and behind-the-wheel training to new operators or re-training of current operators. This includes, but is not limited to, defensive driving training, drug and alcohol training, customer service training, hazardous materials training, and wheelchair securement training. • Tracks and maintains training documentation based on regulations and company policy. • Conduct or assist General Manager with safety training and meetings. • Review accident reports to reduce number and severity of accidents. • Coordinate compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and work closely with General Manager to accomplish company objectives. • Primary monitor of random drug testing procedures (Designated Employer Representative). • Monitor customer complaint data, and review video footage when necessary. • Respond to incidents, accidents, fare box issues, and other emergency situations; perform accident investigation and follow-ups. • Monitor and evaluate operational performance with random route/driver ride-alongs. • Fill in for dispatchers or drivers if needed and in case of emergency. • Assists the Operations and Maintenance Managers as necessary and performs other duties and tasks as directed by the General Manager, First transit, Inc. Responsibilities Field Manager within STC's team will serve clients in the Greater DFW area . The candidate will manage and develop the safety relationship with clients and subcontractors on job sites. The role is supported by a safety team. The following provides a quick overview of responsibilities you can expect to see in this role. Conduct thorough incident investigations, safety related assessments, audits and inspections across all industries. Deliver instructor-led safety trainings, safety meetings, and toolbox talks. Ensure compliance with OSHA in the workplace. Review and verify all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use. Promote safety best practices and enforce safety guidelines. Perform site walkthroughs. Conduct continual safety observations and inspections of the site and confirmed corrective action. Support special internal and external projects. Driving to various local geographical locations each day across the DFW area. Be open-minded and engaged in performance coaching and uphold a professional emotional intelligence. Requirements - Skills and Experience We are excited to speak with you if you possess the following skills: Professional Spanish Bilingual Speaking Required (Verbal/Written) Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in a safety role Safety and Health related degree or Board Recognized is preferred Certified OSHA 30 Hour, CPR and First Aid Maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance coverage. Computer and Microsoft savvy Well versed in regulatory safety standards and practices Excellent interpersonal, visual, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to perform individually and as a member of a project team. Ability to plan, lead, organize, and communicate (written and verbal) with clients. Comfortable presenting to audiences of various sizes and backgrounds Must be able to travel out of town, anticipate 30% of the time. In no circumstances it is appropriate for employees of STC to conduct physical work on behalf of the client.
