Referred to as a “hidden treasure” by Newsweek, Doane College in Crete, Nebraska has consistently been recognized for its exceptional academics. In addition to high rankings from such publications as U.S. News, Princeton Review, and Forbes, Doane has graduated a number of Fullbright scholars over the years. Doane offers more than 40 programs leading to bachelor's degrees in liberal arts and sciences as well as such pre-professional programs as Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine and Pre-Law. Doane also boasts outstanding performing and fine arts programs. Doane's Theatre program has repeatedly received awards for its student productions. The visual arts department is also impressive and offers degrees in such specializations as Photography, Ceramics, Textiles and Graphic Design. An extension of its arts programs, Doane's student life offerings include numerous instrumental groups, such as a jazz band and a chamber ensemble, a number of choral groups, and theatre performances. Other student life activities include more than 60 student organizations, community service and religious opportunities and intercollegiate athletics. Admission to Doane is competitive and students must demonstrate evidence that they are up to the challenge of the rigorous academics. Financial aid is offered to cover tuition and housing costs for eligible students who are financially limited.
