* Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience, is required.

Maintains efficient clinical operations, following Brown Dermatology's electronic medical record (EMR) and workflow protocols.
This is a full-time, 40 hours/week (8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday) position located at our Warwick office.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow established EMR workflow protocols to maximize site's productivity and office flow efficiency.
Prepare exam and/or treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies for examination of treatment.
Access all clinical information through the EMR. Check for outstanding labs, consults, etc. Review previous office note to determine tests required at time of service (site specific). Communicate any outstanding needs.
Prepare patient for examination and/or treatment. Document patient's medical history and current dermatological condition.
Perform medication review per protocol on every patient and make changes in EMR as appropriate.
Assist physician in preparing for procedures (phototherapy, laser therapy, surgery, etc.). Maintains sterile technique as appropriate.
Under physician supervision draw up and administer injections (site specific).
Check for refills pending on system. Load medications according to protocol/physician request. Call in prescriptions when required.
Maintain, stock and clean examination rooms. Test equipment per protocol.
Assist with ordering supplies, keeping in contact with drug representatives, and setting up services (liquid nitrogen delivery).
Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and prescriptions as needed.
Clean and prepare instruments for autoclave. Perform necessary autoclave testing.
Review medical record and perform all clinical functions and testing according to protocol and standing orders (site specific).
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of chronic conditions
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in Evidence Based guidelines (EBG) and proficiency in performing follow-up with patients, providers, specialists, outside facilities and community organizations to best meet the care team's goals and objectives.
Demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communications with all other health team members regarding any pertinent clinical issues and follow-up with patient as per order of the provider. Document of all communications in the EMR

Significant Job Functions:
Clinical:
Responsible for preparing provider requested forms, office notes, and external records prior to the patient's scheduled visit.
Monitor the providers schedule to ensure that patients are scheduled according to established scheduling guidelines
Works in conjunction with the provider to ensure timeliness of visits
Greet patients and obtain vital signs, (i.e. blood pressure, height, weight, etc.)
Confirm the reason for the patient visit and obtain patient history's when applicable
Document requests for medication refills
Perform routine diagnostic testing
Responsible for managing telephone encounters as assigned in a timely manner
Prepare patients and the exam room based on the visit type
Operate, clean, and maintain clinical equipment
Properly prepare instruments for the autoclave
Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps
Assist providers in rooms as needed
Clean and stock rooms.
Alert appropriate staff to any expired medications or medical supplies
Perform opening and closing duties as assigned and based on established workflows
Administrative
Complete paperwork as needed and maintain departmental logs as needed
Alert appropriate staff by using established workflows of any clinical or office supply shortages.
Use appropriate stamps when indicated for confidential patients, lab orders, and mailings.
Correctly printing patient identify labels and affixing them to the appropriate forms, orders, and requisitions
Able to obtain lab results for external facilities
Maintain professional standards of behavior
Properly complete documentation, scanning, and faxing of requests for patient records
Perform other job-related duties as needed
$18.25 per hour and up as well as a $500 bonus after 90 Days Employment
