DDI has an opening for a position in the post-analytical review and release of test reports. We are looking for a technologist that wants to be part of assuring that patient results are being evaluated and monitored for accuracy and overall validity. Prefer experience in clinical chemistry testing.
Full-Time or Part-Time openings.
Responsibilities include:
Final review and releasing of test profiles.
Monitor test production - turnaround times.
Assure that accurate test results are being reported
Interface with lab and quality departments to assure prompt communication and resolution of problems.
Position Qualifications:
1.a doctorate's degree in a chemical, or biological science and 6 months acceptable clinical experience in related field; or
2. a master's in a chemical, or biological science and 1 year acceptable clinical experience in a related field; or
2. a bachelor's degree in a chemical, or biological science and 2 years of acceptable clinical experience in related field; or
3. a degree in medical technology from an accredited institution and 1 year acceptable experience in a related field.
Preferred experience in clinical chemistry testing.
Clinical Lab certification preferred
Good organization and data analysis skills required.

Interns will gain exposure to using microscopes to perform manual body fluid counts and reviewing blood smears for various disease states and leukemia's.
Microbiology - Microbiology will familiarize interns with clinical bacteriology, including culture methods, microscopy, EIA, automated identification and susceptibility systems such as the Vitek II, Vitek Mass Spectrometry Maldi-tof, and Microscan systems. Interns can expect experience with the Virtuo blood culture detection system and gain skills in processing various specimen types using sterile techniques, following safety protocols, and staining smears. Interns will be introduced to the latest in AI technology that enhance screening techniques and diagnostic testing for microbiology samples.
Molecular Diagnostics - Through Molecular Diagnostics, inters will learn various techniques to amplify RNA and DNA; TMA, RT-PCR, and direct hybridization. Time will be spent learning about unidirectional workflow and the need for dedicated equipment and aseptic techniques.
Immunology/ Serology - In Immunology / Serology, interns will focus on learning about infectious diseases and their diagnosis. Interns are exposed to a variety of methodologies such as ELISA, chemiluminescence, flocculation, IFA, Western Blot and DFA, and antigen/antibody binding reactions. Interns will also learn about limitations and interferences of these methodologies.
Toxicology - Toxicology focuses on learning the principles and basics of forensic drug testing, including chain of custody. Interns will gain an understanding of the life of a specimen as it travels throughout the forensic drug testing processes and equipment. Management:
The incumbent supervises the activities of all departmental personnel. Responsibilities include all aspects of operational management; such as hiring, developing, providing feedback and evaluating the performance of direct reports. The incumbent coordinates the activities of the laboratory with those of other departments. Internal coordination within the laboratory involving tasks of client service personnel and administration are also needed.
Work Environment:
The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with lighting and temperature control. Working in the laboratory is necessary when evaluating the tasks of the subordinates and explaining new techniques. Occasionally, fumes require the incumbent to wear safety equipment that includes a mask or working under a ventilation hood. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. The incumbent should be able to detect slight variation in shades of colors. Client visits may require protective clothing and equipment according to the facility environment. Overnight travel is less than two nights a month to attend meetings and professional seminars.

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)
Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
Administer oral solutions according to established training.
Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
Complete online and in person training courses timely.
Qualifications
Required Work Experience:
Three years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

The intern's laboratory experience may include exposure in one or more of the following areas:

Quest uses state of the art equipment to perform protein electrophoresis and heavy metal testing. Interns will gain exposure to how protein patterns are applied to determine disease states.
Hematology - Hematology will provide exposure to complete blood counts, coagulation testing, urinalysis and blood banking. Quest applies the latest technology to complete blood count testing, automated differentials, coagulation testing and ABO Rh testing. Interns will gain exposure to using microscopes to perform manual body fluid counts and reviewing blood smears for various disease states and leukemia's.
Microbiology - Microbiology will familiarize interns with clinical bacteriology, including culture methods, microscopy, EIA, automated identification and susceptibility systems such as the Vitek II, Vitek Mass Spectrometry Maldi-tof, and Microscan systems. Interns can expect experience with the Virtuo blood culture detection system and gain skills in processing various specimen types using sterile techniques, following safety protocols, and staining smears. Interns will be introduced to the latest in AI technology that enhance screening techniques and diagnostic testing for microbiology samples.
Molecular Diagnostics - Through Molecular Diagnostics, inters will learn various techniques to amplify RNA and DNA; TMA, RT-PCR, and direct hybridization. Time will be spent learning about unidirectional workflow and the need for dedicated equipment and aseptic techniques.
Immunology/ Serology - In Immunology / Serology, interns will focus on learning about infectious diseases and their diagnosis. Interns are exposed to a variety of methodologies such as ELISA, chemiluminescence, flocculation, IFA, Western Blot and DFA, and antigen/antibody binding reactions. Interns will also learn about limitations and interferences of these methodologies.
Toxicology - Toxicology focuses on learning the principles and basics of forensic drug testing, including chain of custody. Interns will gain an understanding of the life of a specimen as it travels throughout the forensic drug testing processes and equipment. Equipment used includes CV2000 automated aliquotter; Beckman AU 5800 automated chemistry analyzers; J57 4 point refractometer; Agilent GC/MS; Agilent GC-MS/MS; Ab Sciex LC-MS/MS; Shimadzu GC/HS and the Tecan aliquotter.
