    The Opportunity: The Production Supervisor is responsible for actively participating in all company safety programs and meetings, as well as personal and team compliance to company safety policies. Reporting to both the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents for the overall efficient, safe and economic operation of the Powerhouse, this person is also responsible for pulp production at the quality and in the quantity required for the various grades produced by the paper machines and for the daily production, safety of the crew. The Production Supervisor is responsible for implementing the tasks assigned to the team by direct supervision regarding work orders, cleanup assignments, and mill policy compliance. task/responsibilities: Safety: * Report and address all safety concerns during shift safety/production meeting at first of shift with all operational departments (Paper, Utility, Recovery, Pulp, Shipping, Woodyard, and Test Station). * Understands/enforces mill safety policies/procedures. Ensures all crew members are aware of, and adhere to, safety policies/procedures. * Initiates accident/incident investigation on all events occurring on his/her shift. * Coordinates/authorizes shutdown, lock-out, confined space, hot work procedures on shift. * Performs proactive safety activities (safety contacts, audits, crew meetings, etc.) Operations/Mill Reliability: * Ensures adequate staffing coverage to support daily operational duties and specific goals/events (field days, outages, etc.) * Collaborate with maintenance personnel and coordinates maintenance activities. * Ensure that all the equipment and processes in the Power-Recovery-Caustic areas are operating in a safe and efficient manner to produce an uninterrupted supply of quality product to the customers in the remaining mill areas. * Reporting on daily shift reports, and special reports if a serious accident or production loss occurs on the shift. * Communicates and coordinates department activities with other mill areas to ensure that there are adequate supplies of steam, electricity or liquor available to meet the mill demands. * Coordinates with outside suppliers of gas and electrical power, including chemical and liquor shipments, if problems occur at night or on weekends. * Communicates with suppliers of the individual services (gas, electricity, or chemicals) regarding curtailments, transportation problems or production problems within the mill that would affect the usage to ensure that the required amounts of fuel and chemicals are on hand for a continuous operation. * Maintains expectation of housekeeping by assigning clean up responsibilities to various members of team, and requesting extra help when needed, to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and safe workplace. * Supervises the testing of the various liquors (white, black, green and heavy black) used in the process and the feed water quality to the boilers to maintain adequate liquor and feedwater quality. Our Dodson site is a union-free facility that employs approximately 160 associates.
