Position Overview:
The Groomer is a commission-based position within our Pet Resort and reports directly to the General Manager. Most importantly, candidates should have experience grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats. Primary responsibilities are to ensure that all pets in your care receive a groom that is of professional quality that meets or exceeds the client's request without ever compromising the physical and emotional health of the pet.
A Day in the Life:
This role is very important to our pets and their parents. You're the one who makes them feel like a million bucks! Oftentimes, you are helping keep their pet healthy by maintaining a clean and well-groomed animal. Daily, you'll work on both animals with reservations, walk-in appointments and some of our guests who are staying with us in boarding. You'll perform a full groom, simple baths and touch ups and sometimes, the random “emergency-someone-just-peed-on-themselves-because-they-are-so-excited-bath.” You'll not only communicate with the dog(s), but also have a lot of interaction with mom and dad. You'll document what you are seeing - sometimes you're the first to notice an issue and can help the parents solve a health concern. And let's not forget -- you're probably going to scoop some poop, clean up some pee, go home with some fur on you and get lots of sloppy kisses!
Responsibilities:
Provide an overall positive experience for the pets as they are being groomed, including compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort.
Ensure that all guests are groomed or bathed (depending on the parent's requests) to the parent's specifications. Grooms/Baths must be completed on time.
Works with Resort Hosts to schedule or schedule grooming appointments yourself, including setting up new clients in online software and discussing vaccination protocol with both new and existing clients.
Meet and greet all grooming clients whenever possible to discuss grooming instructions after assessing the dog's coat and condition. Meet with clients or communicate after groom on results, including providing report cards. Suggest any added services that would be beneficial to the client.
Return all phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Grow your business by rescheduling any appointments.
Ensure client satisfaction by resolving any customer service issues within your capabilities.
Properly maintain all grooming tools to ensure quality of grooms. Check equipment on a regular basis to ensure it is not hazardous to guests.
Promptly notify the manager if supplies are needed (bandana, shampoos, etc.).
Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following the resort's standards of cleaning and disinfecting your workspace. See below for details.
Cleaning is essential: All hair must be swept off the floor in a timely manner. Bathing and drying rooms must be cleaned before going home. Grooming area must be tidy (windows cleaned, floor mopped, computer station cleaned.).
Disinfecting drying rooms is crucial. Use disinfectant daily and bleach weekly on all drying rooms.
Monitor guest's health while grooming or bathing. Report any unusual concerns to the general manager and the pet parent.
Ensure the guest has water and a chance to “go potty” if he or she will be with you for over 2 hours.
Follow all standards of safety with regards to handling guests, particularly aggressive guests and escape artists.
Pay specific attention to kennel tags, (Meds Person to Feed, Aggressive, Separate for Feeding, etc.).
Adhere to pricing guidelines. Get prior approval from the manager or pet's owner before any additional costs are added to service.
Effectively communicate to pet care staff that guests are with you.
Adhere to procedures in identifying pets while they are with you (groom cards, name bands).
Promptly give any laundry to pet care so that it can be cleaned.
Consult with other departments.

Each direct support staff member is responsible for ensuring the human rights of all Individuals served are met. Staff are responsible for treating all Individuals with dignity and respect. Direct Support staff assigned to the individual are responsible for supporting the Individual in the completion of their daily routines. Responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of the Individual served, seeking assistance and medical interventions as appropriate.
Serves as a Mandated Reporter and is required to advise direct supervisor, DDS and DPPC immediately if abuse and/or neglect of an Individual is suspected.
Handle crisis situations according to agency policies and procedures, seeking resources when necessary.
Monitor home site for safety, cleanliness and upkeep and take necessary action to ensure same. Report safety concerns per established protocols.
Establish rapport with Individual participating in the Home-Based Residential Supports program.
Support the learning of the Individual by use of motivational techniques, effective interventions and various communication approaches including verbal, gesture, and written communication.
Assist the Individual with any activities of daily living (ADLs) as applicable to each Individual's abilities.
May be responsible for scheduling and accompanying individuals to medical appointments/treatments, ensuring accurate reporting to physician and follow through with respect to doctor's orders and recommendations.
Responsible for producing accurate, legible and complete medical documentation for Individuals served, including but not limited to treatment charts and data sheets.
Ensure Individuals are provided nutritionally sound food options along with the education to help them understand the impact of their food consumption.
Carry out all interventions in an Individual's Behavioral Protocol Plan as written and trained. Redirect and/or physically support Individuals who may be aggressive using proactive techniques while maintaining self-control.
Communicate effectively, professionally and respectfully with Individuals, co-workers, management, guardians, and others while on company time.
Responsible for being familiar with and abiding by Agency, Department, and Program policies and procedures and for acting in a manner consistent with organizational values, mission, and goals.
Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings as well as supervision meetings.

The Direct Care Support employee is responsible for performing homemaker services as established upon completion of the admission assessment. The services are provided under the direction of the Homemaker Supervisor as assigned by keeping with LifeCare Alliance agency policies and program policies of practice. This position works independently with clients in conjunction with other agency staff. Work performed in this position will be of a paraprofessional and confidential. Work requires an attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and an ability to handle multiple tasks. This position will have frequent contact with agency personnel, clients, and other community agencies. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial for this position. This position requires a significant amount of independence, self-direction and time management to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.
Principal responsibilities/essential functions:
Responsible for providing light housekeeping services. This includes vacuuming, dusting, laundry, cleaning the kitchen, bathroom and the refrigerator.
Responsible for providing errand services. This includes grocery shopping, picking up medication, and paying bills.
Responsible for delivering and completing required client and agency documents. This includes client service records, timesheets, and mileage sheets.
Responsible for reporting changes in client condition according to department protocols. This includes physical, mental, and environmental changes.
Responsible for performing other department or agency functions. This includes attending in-services, attending required meetings, following mandated safety regulations including infection control standards, delivering documents to clients, delivering fans.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily in client homes, which may include a variety of home environments and living conditions. Work also includes office visits to turn in paperwork and attend mandatory meetings. Work requires employee to drive in all types of weather conditions. Work is generally between 8:00am and 5:00pm, and on call hours as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. Prefer two years of general housekeeping experiences either residential, corporate, or medical facility related to this position. Community health care service experience with culturally diverse and/or elderly population. Valid Ohio driver's license. Vehicle available for agency use, proper auto insurance 100,000/300,000 coverage and an adequate driving record.
