Walden dog walker/pet sitter job description

  • Have a valid Driver’s License, vehicle, and smartphone.
  • Are able and willing to travel within a 10 mile radius of the Concord area.
  • Be available to work between 9:00AM-3:00PM or 3:00-9:00PM on weekdays.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Will commit to at least 6 months of working with us.
  • Can pass a criminal background check.
  • Have trustworthy and hands-on experience caring for pets and are able to provide references.

What we do:

  • We are in the peace-of-mind business. We provide reliable care for pet parents who are busy working or traveling.
  • We visit clients’ homes to care for their pets. This could include taking dogs for walks, letting dogs out in the yard to play, cleaning up after pets, feeding and providing fresh water, scooping litter boxes, providing medications if needed, and of course loving them and providing lots of TLC and belly rubs! For vacation clients, we are also responsible for providing basic home care such as watering plants and collecting mail.
  • As a pet care provider with Walden Pet, you will drive yourself to these appointments, check in and check out using our mobile app, and write informative updates with pictures to let clients know how their pets and homes are doing.

Benefits:

  • Growth opportunities - Room to grow with the business and take on more leadership roles
  • Flexible hours - We schedule visits in arrival windows, rather than exact times. Run your errands or go to class in between visits, as long as it works with the scheduled timeframes. Our operating hours are from 7:00am-9:00pm. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available.
  • Streamlined communication - Manage your whole job and route from your phone.
  • Relaxed work environment - Comfy clothes encouraged, no need to dress up.
  • With us, you are an employee, not an independent contractor. You are protected by our liability insurance, bonding, and workers’ compensation insurance. We will also provide necessary equipment and fully paid, hands-on training and Pet CPR/First Aid Certification.

Requirements:

  • Must be based within or willing to drive to our service area on a daily basis - The closer you live, the more profitable, practical, and beneficial the job is for you.
  • Have your own reliable registered/fully insured vehicle and a valid Driver's License - You will need to travel to/from clients’ homes and transport dogs when needed.
  • Have a smart phone with photo/video/GPS capability and be able to operate one - Employees use our app for clocking in/out, sending updates to clients, and communicating with the office/team.
  • Be available for the shifts you set up consistently - Availability is required Monday-Friday. Weekend shifts may be available if you are looking for more hours.
  • Be available year round - This position is not seasonal. Please only apply if you can commit all 12 months of the year, including major holidays.
  • Be able to work on your feet for many hours at a time in all types of weather - Rain, snow, and heat. We are a year-round service. Dogs still need to be taken out regardless of the weather. We do have restrictions and safety measures for extreme weather for pet and employee safety.
  • Thrive on an independent work environment - Once training is completed, you will be visiting clients’ homes and conducting visits by yourself, without the presence of a manager. Dependability and self-motivation are essential to success in this role.
  • Experience working with animals is highly preferred, but not required - Preference will be given to candidates who have formal experience in the pet care industry.
  • Be able to pass a background check - Employment Offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check.
