Salary Range: $76,000-$78,000
YOUR ROLE
Are you known for your leadership skills? Are you passionate about coordinating logistics activities? If so, we have an opportunity that would allow you to oversee transportation and customs processes, providing customer service for shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products in accordance with federal and foreign regulations.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
Provide responsible supervision and control for all departmental activities. Assist in the retention and training efforts of staff and of customers. Conduct meetings with staff to assess group's overall status, discuss ideas for improvement and inform staff of new developments. Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
Oversee performance statistics. Review and monitor shipment documentation for accuracy. Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to and from foreign destinations. Communicate with customs officials as appropriate to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standard for customs clearance operations as dictated and allowed by applicable regulations. Ensure all policies and procedures are consistently administered.
Identify areas of concern in clients' import and export processes through monitoring of team performance against company and client standards, regular audit of shipment documents and accounting, and periodic client reviews.
Communicate with operations manager regarding progress and problems or issues. Maintain flexible work schedule include outside normal business hours and after hours on call rotation.
Effectively participate in and/or supervise department projects related to assigned area of responsibility.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, Minimum four years related experience. Minimum one year supervisory experience; Bachelor's Degree in International Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Finance or related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of work experience and education. Three years of industry experience preferred.
Credentials: Working knowledge of ITAR, Import Brokerage, Export Compliance, Hazmat Regulations and recordkeeping; Some professional certifications may be required.
Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
Characteristics: Ability to allocate work assignments; Proven experience in problem analysis, presentation of alternatives and implementing solutions; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

This is a full-time position in a 24x7 operations environment, subject to on-call, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Accelerate your career with our 6-month training program that begins with a one-week orientation at our Fort Worth headquarters, where you'll immerse yourself in BNSF culture and connect with industry leaders.
Next, spend two non-consecutive months at our Technical Training Center in Overland Park to sharpen your technical and personnel management skills. During this time, we'll focus on developing you as a safety and operations leader:
* The safety leader phase will provide you with knowledge of operating and safety rules. You'll then receive on-the-job training where you'll observe and learn from train crews in the field, strengthening the knowledge gained in the classroom. This position requires that all EFLS must obtain their rules qualification by week 12 of the 26-week training program.
* The operations leader phase will teach you the program and leadership skills needed to successfully navigate on-the-job training at your assigned training location for the remainder of the program.
By the end of the program, you'll have gained valuable technical skills and leadership abilities that will propel your career forward.
Travel and Relocation is required for this program, Trainees must be flexible with their location, as they could be moved depending on business needs. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Key responsibilities may include:
Leading safety briefings and ensuring compliance with Federal Railroad Administration and BNSF rules as well as conducting safety meetings, investigate accidents, monitor costs, and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Facilitating crew discussions on safety, managing compliance with attendance policies, and conducting operational audits while riding trains.
Assisting crews with personnel paperwork, vacation requests, and providing transportation for timely operations.
Corresponding with customers regarding shipments and planning the movement of cars, locomotives, and crews within terminals in addition to coordinating with various departments to execute the operations plan and provide efficient service.
Implementing policies, supervise employees, and manage daily train and switching operations.
Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Daily work is conducted in a mixed indoor office and outdoor safety-sensitive environment, where working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, and working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery. Personal protective equipment, a hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves are required and provided by BNSF.

Basic Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire AND have a valid Driver's License or will have a valid Driver's License upon hire.

Role includes climbing ladders and navigating uneven surfaces, with the ability to travel up to 25% of the time based on business needs.

Have a high school degree or achieved a degree through a GED program.
Have at least three (3) years of military and/or professional work experience supervising five (5) or more employees.

YOUR ROLE
Supervises and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in accordance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products for the Air Export division in Melrose Park, IL. Oversees daily operations of the department, to ensure profitability and compliance with company policies, ISO Guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements, providing excellent customer service through timely and accurate processing and compliance with government regulations and / or company policies. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
* Review and reconcile all management and financial reports for department.
* Review profitability and growth of department regularly with operations.
* Work with operations to establish business plan and goals for department.
* Develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers at all times.
* Ensure independent service commitments of CEVA import clients are met and that compliant declarations are made to U.S. Customs and related regulatory groups.
* Serve as interface with Customs and other Federal Agencies to ensure compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations.
* Oversee or compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to and from foreign destinations.
* Supervise the preparation of U.S. Customs Documentation prepared on in-house systems of all assigned services staff; communicate with customs officials as appropriate to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
* Oversee pre-alerts daily to determine whether freight is arriving as expected, and documents are received within the time standards specified. Confirm arrival time with carrier and the arrival of documents within one business day of freight arrival.
* Ensure files and records are set up relevant to the consolidation, contact origin office for incomplete information.
* Provide written quotations as requested by customers, provide copy of quotation to manager, and document customer profile information.
* Coordinate timely clearance and delivery of imported cargo based on company and customer service commitment standards; communicate with customers to ensure proper handling of goods, and keep customers advised of changes in import regulations, tariff and bonding requirements.
* Examine documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
* Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations, and write procedures for the handling of each account. Includes classifications, schedule of service, shipment entry, and booking process, Consularization Regulations and export services.
* Provides consultation to customers on the importation of goods thru U.S. Customs, governmental regulations/inspections, changes in import regulations, transportation, bonding/insurance requirements and general industry expertise.
* Oversee and monitor team performance - both quantity and quality -audit shipment documents, and conduct periodic client reviews to identify areas of concern in the clients' export processes. Communicate / escalate transaction problems or irregularities to manager and assist in identifying solutions.
* Train new staff in assigned duties; Assess progress of trainees and assign additional duties as appropriate.
* Conduct training courses and seminars for staff and clients in areas of shipping and export regulations and procedures. Provide guidance and advice as necessary.
* Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports and address employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
* Maintain a high level of expertise in all areas of breakbulk, import, or export areas, through self-study, as well as courses and seminars presented by the company and other approved sources, regular review of trade publications and attendance of all appropriate seminars in assigned area.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Minimum 4 years related experience in Airfreight globally.
* Some professional certifications may be required.
* Knowledgeable in Export Administration, Department of Commerce, and Consularization regulations, Uniform Custom Practice 500 (UCP 500), and recordkeeping.
* Knowledge of IATA, NATA, Free Trade Agreements, CTPAT, additional tariff requirements, OGA's, ACH, and all other related trade legislation, rules, and regulations.
Preferred:
* Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred; or an equivalent combination of work experience and completion of the LDP Program.
* Supervisory experience.
Skills:
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.

* Strives to be technically proficient on the machinery in the department. Provides assistance to the team in problem resolution and assures that testing and product development is carried out in a professional manner.
* Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
* Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
* Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
* Performs all other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED required with equivalent manufactruing experience
* The Shift Supervisor must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
* Must be quality conscious and customer oriented.
* Must be flexible to work any of the 3 shifts assigned based on business needs: 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, and 10pm - 6am.
Desired Qualifications:
* Bachelor' degree in a related field is preferred
* Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred

Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00
