Oversees on site construction and equipment installation, start-up, testing, placement into service, and project documentation. Inspects completed and existing installations to observe appropriate operation, ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications, and verify compliance with operational and safety standards. Performs the engineering and design for large load meter/regulator (LLMR) projects and other mechanical projects of small to medium scope, including piping/equipment sizing calculations, as needed. SUMMARYThe Strategic Electrical (System) Engineer provides expert-level technical support for the operation, maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned systems and programs. Reviews performance of assigned systems, components, and programs and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing. Coordinates and safely implements Emergent switchyard activities. Evaluates activities for Work Risk & Operational impact. Monitors and recommends switchyard scope changes and manages their impacts to the online and outage schedule to minimize risk/cost to the station. Performs impact reviews of switchyard work activities to include an aggregate review of known deficiencies that could impact reliability of the switchyard. Participates in the preparation/execution of 138-line outage work. Leads/attends meetings to support switchyard reviews and critiques. Interfaces with the schedulers to ensure schedule is accurate, timely, complete and properly maintained. Acts as "CHAMPION" for plant systems. Job DescriptionSalary: DOE Assist in the design and planning of the Cooperative's electric system to ensure reliable, safe and cost-effective facilities are planned, constructed and maintained at the lowest reasonable cost consistent with good engineering and business practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in establishing and maintaining engineering and construction standards utilizing software applications including, but not limited to, computer aided drafting (CAD) and solid modeling. Perform duties of System SCADA controller, as warranted. Includes monitoring the SCADA system, initiating commands when necessary and other tasks associated with SCADA operations and the SCADA system. Perform duties for the design, installation, and maintenance of the SCADA system and distribution automation schemes. This shall include installation and wiring of components, installation of cabling, building of display screens, database maintenance, report development, assisting with remote switching operations, troubleshooting communications and control wiring, programming Remote Terminal Units, and making system repairs as required. Assisting with the preparation, implementation and documentation of engineering reports, studies and investigations. Job Knowledge: As a condition of employment, successful completion of the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering examination) and EIT certification must be completed within the first 12 months of employment. Eligibility for future registration as a licensed PE (Professional Engineer) in the state of Texas upon completion of the required years of experience, and the PE examination is required. The primary focus will be the Instrument & Control systems and analyses at the North Anna and Surry Power Stations located in Virginia. This is an in-person position located at the Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA. The role will perform the preparation and review of Channel Statistical Allowance (CSA) Calculations, Instrument Scaling Documents, Instruments Specifications and Standards, and Dynamic Troubleshooting of Instrument & Control Systems. In addition, reviews of vendor calculations and design change packages will be required. The Engineering Technical Specialist III or Senior/Staff Engineer should be capable of completing all routine assignments and tasks without direct supervision and direction.
