**Job Summary**
This role is the top progression level position in the Engineer series. Includes senior to technical expert engineers, able to perform highly difficult and very complex work requiring extensive knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area. As unprecedent power generation demand increases, generation from coal and biomass resources continues to be important to the "all-of-the-above" approach within the Dominion Energy portfolio. The Power Generation Operations Support Team is seeking a Staff Engineer to provide multi-discipline engineering, plant operational and maintenance teams with strong technical and project leadership in support of boiler operations, air pollution control equipment, fuel handling, ash removal, and waste handling. Possesses and applies advanced knowledge and technical skills to solve complex engineering problems, or to plan and coordinate engineering projects or varied assignments requiring diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Provides expert technical consultation to operations and maintenance teams, assessing complex challenges. Serves as a management consultant on complex engineering problems and issues. Controls technical, financial, and service commitments to internal or external customers. May perform independent research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to operational problems.
**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience**
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience that are required for entry into this job include the following:
+ 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (An Engineering PhD can be substituted for up to 5 years' experience based on research engineering work on related projects approved by executive leadership.)
+ Provide engineering support for the combustion of solid fuel, both coal and biomass, emphasizing on all associated Air Pollution Control (APC) equipment.
+ Engage fuel procurement team and provide technical guidance during fuel contract renewal.
+ Review fuel contracts, ensuring certain fuel quality specifications are met for each of the solid fuel boilers in the fleet during contract negotiations. Negotiating and setting reject limits for critical constituents in the fuel for all future solid fuel contracts.
+ Provide engineering guidance on which constituents in the fuel can have a positive or negative impact on all equipment associated will fuel handling, fuel delivery, boiler combustion, boiler cleaning, ash removal, waste disposal along with the impact the fuel constituents will have on the performance of associated APC equipment for the control of NOx, Acid Gases (SO2, SO3, HCl, etc), PM, and Hg.
+ Provide engineering support on the sootblowing systems for the coal and biomass boilers in the fleet.
+ Understanding the PJM dispatch cost calculations methodology to assist the Fuels, Energy Supply and Strategic Planning groups with their regulatory commitments.
+ Provide engineering support for the current Wet FGDs, Dry Scrubbers, Hg Control systems in the fleet and be the SME if any Dry Sorbent Injection (DSI) systems are considered in the future.
+ Engage with industry suppliers and manufacturers.
+ Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

The I&C Plant Engineer position is responsible for learning the plant site, procedures, programs and organization along with obtaining engineering qualifications as required in the allotted timeframe. The I&C Plant Engineer will support station activities related to providing technical support for the operation, maintenance and testing of plant systems. PLANT ENGINEERING TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
Provides technical support for operations and maintenance personnel regarding plant systems.
Reviews performance of plant systems and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing.
Leads the interface with other departments and regulatory agencies by leading meetings and discussions to provide specific information and analysis to questions/problems.

Description of Work
This position within the Solid Waste Section of the Division of Waste Management is responsible for solid waste permitting activities including permitting, technical consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning, design review, approval, and determination of environmental impacts for all aspects of solid waste management. The position functions as a project manager for solid waste projects requiring new, amended, or modified permits, providing detailed engineering review of permit applications, preparing permits, coordinating the activities of internal participants in the permit process such as hydrogeologists, compliance officers and business analysts, and coordinating with outside agencies such as Water Resources, Cultural Resources, Air Quality, DEMLR and others. Work at this level is generally performed independently. The position is responsible for technical review of engineering designs and/or project specifications to ensure compliance with engineering principles, standards, statutes, rules, and regulations related to the siting, design, construction, and operation of solid waste management facilities. Solid waste management facilities include high-tech landfills for the disposal of coal combustion residuals, municipal solid waste (MSW), and industrial wastes, construction and demolition debris landfills, medical or MSW incinerators, land-clearing and inert debris landfills, transfer facilities, HHW facilities, and treatment and processing facilities. The position will periodically assist with developing program policy, guidance, and rules, and with section or branch planning activities.

• Ensure timely and detailed review of engineering applications, drawings, specifications, and calculations to determine compliance with Federal and State laws, rules, and policies, and good engineering practices.

As a Streaming Media Engineer your passion for developing real time streaming services and the related framework will enable you to play a key role in the design, development, optimization and overall product life cycle of Eagle Eye Network's flagship video security services and applications.
Responsibilities
As an individual contributor on our Agile delivery teams you will be charged with engineering high performance multi-channel streaming solutions to challenging global scale problems and in turn creating well-designed and delightful user experiences that deliver those capabilities in real time to users all over the world.

Experience
5-7 years of experience building and delivering cloud-based services and applications in a CI/CD environment via containerization technologies including Docker, etc
Proven mastery of languages including but not limited to C, C++ and Java
Experience with GPU accelerated codecs
Experience with network and streaming transport protocols, UDP, TCP, RTP/RTCP, RTSP
Experience with image and video codec standards
Experience with multimedia container formats
Knowledge and expertise of code and service optimization centered around all types of multimedia
An Agile mentality is required as we strive every sprint to design, code, test and deliver solutions to our customers and in turn react and pivot based upon their feedback
Excellent oral and written communication skills - should be equally capable of clarifying design points with architects and product owners as well as working with customer service to solve customer problems

The Strategic Engineer provides expert-level technical support for the operation, maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned systems and programs. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, implements, and administers assigned programs. Provides technical support for the operation, maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned systems or programs.
Reviews performance of assigned systems and components and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing.
Prepares/reviews/approves engineering documentation as necessary (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).
Performs equipment cause evaluations of plant failures and identifies corrective actions as necessary to ensure strong equipment reliability
Utilizes various forms of software to proactively trend for incipient conditions to prevent equipment failure.
Optimizes reliability vs financial effectiveness by ownership and advocacy of planned maintenance scope.
Prepares/reviews complex safety evaluations and significant hazards review for plant repairs and conditions.
Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identifies appropriate corrective actions.
Coordinates work efforts within engineering, operations, and maintenance or external vendors to collect and interpret data, and implement recommended resolutions.
Provide input to the at-power and outage schedules, including prioritization, logic work grouping, etc for work being scheduled.

Perform bi-weekly system walk downs to maintain a current awareness of system condition/performance and to obtain data for performance monitoring depending on system or program assigned to support.

Champion major maintenance and modifications that impact Plant Reliability or Generation and ensure these items are taken through the funding process
Evaluate proposed modifications to assigned systems or components, including cost/benefit analysis, and make recommendations on which modifications should be pursued
Provide engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other organizations.
Attend and complete Station, department or division required training as necessary for the position and as directed by your immediate supervision
Acts as "CHAMPION" for plant systems. Advocates system or program health with an emphasis on improving overall plant performance and reliability
