Dos Pueblos High School company history timeline

1824

The final blow came for the villagers at Dos Pueblos as a result of a Chumash revolt in 1824.

1837

The news of this attack sent most of the few remaining at Dos Pueblos packing into the mountains, as far as Tulare county, never to return to their ancestral home.In 1837, a young Irishman named Nicholas Den rode through Dos Pueblos and fell in love with the area.

1842

He soon learned to speak Chumash, and they taught him about their medicinal herbs, which he put to good use.After much hard work and jumping through all the political hoops, Den was awarded the Rancho Dos Pueblos land grant in 1842.

1987

In 1987, in memory of Amy Foose, the Foose Family donated the Helmet Car to Dos Pueblos High School.

2007

October, 2007: Amir Abo-Shaeer learns that the Santa Barbara School District has been awarded a $3,000,000 matching grant by the State of California for the construction of a new facility.

December 27, 2007: The Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy Foundation is incorporated as an IRC 501(c)3 charitable organization, with Sandra Seale as president.

2008

May 4, 2008: The DPEA Foundation launches its Capital Campaign at QAD Corporation in Carpinteria.

2009

November, 2009: Doctor Virgil Elings donates $1,000,000 to the Capital Campaign.

2010

July 10, 2010: The Santa Barbara School District breaks ground on construction of the new facility.

2011

March, 2011: “The New Cool”, a book by best-selling author Neal Bascomb, is released.

October 1, 2011: Doctor Virgil Elings, at the controls of the robot, breaks the ribbon on the new facility.

2016

Both Amy and Chip Foose were inducted into the inaugural DPHS Hall of Fame in 2016.
