A Day in the Life You begin your shift by reviewing program specs and blueprints, mapping out machine operations and sequencing for a low-volume, high-mix workload. With 5+ changeovers daily, you group jobs to trim setup time and keep throughput high. You perform efficient setups, mount and align tools and fixtures, and transfer commands from servers to CNC modules via network links. After a meticulous first-piece inspection using vernier calipers, micrometers, and drop dial indicators, you run the job-monitoring lubrication and cooling, and stopping the machine as needed to swap tooling or adjust placement according to the machining sequence. Throughout the day, you collaborate with your Supervisor and Application Engineering/Programming to refine processes and improve outcomes. Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences. Other duties, as assigned. Requirements Some degree of CNC programming experience Requires average math skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Simple oral communication skills: ability to read and comprehend instructions. Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components up to 50 lbs. Must be able to consistently stand for an entire 8 to 10-hour shift.
