The Field Service Technician has the skills and the knowledge to install, service, and repair Douglas Machine automated packaging machinery. Service work may include, but not limited to performing routine maintenance, repairs, modification, machine setup, or training of customer personnel. In addition, this position requires extensive travel to customer sites. This position is accepting applications from Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona & New Mexico. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: * Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit and continuous innovation and improvement). * Demonstrate the "6+1 ways" customer service model at all times. * (Applies to Remote Technicians) Remote technician is expected to be in communication with Douglas supervisory personnel daily, Monday through Friday and when appropriate on Saturday and Sunday. To facilitate this communication the technician should be available via company furnished cell phone. This phone would be used only for work related calls. If a separate telephone line were required at the technician's home to facilitate transfer of information (FAX or internet), the technician would pay for the installation and Douglas would pay for usage charges. * Must be able and willing to travel a minimum 75% of the time to perform tasks at customer sites. * Troubleshoot packaging machines and resolve a high percentage of mechanical, electrical, and programming issues with some assistance. * Communicate effectively with field service advisors to resolve technical issues. * Maintain a positive, professional relationship with customer personnel. * Document pertinent technical and customer information to facilitate an ongoing business relationship. * Produce and submit very accurate and complete trip and expense reports in a timely manner. * Be proactive at learning new components and design principles as they are introduced. * Proactively identify product/service sales opportunities at customer sites that will enhance customer's packaging processes. * Assist with the training of new technicians. * Provide informal (hands on) training for customer's employees. * Comply with all safety policies and procedures. * Assist with related tasks and projects. Assists in writing non-conformance reports when necessary. Reviews standard cycle times and actual cycle times. Safely operates a forklift. Ensures machine shop is clean and orderly. The Field Service Technical Advisor I is an entry level position that will assist Field Service Technical Advisor II's and provide customers with technical information. This position also provides assistance with the coordination of information and briefing Field Service Technicians on assignments to ensure that customer service activity achieves corporate objectives. In addition, the Field Service Technical Advisor I will be responsible for ensuring that machine records reflect current machine configuration and for providing input on Field Service Technician performance reviews and training needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The Machinist position requires a technical degree in Machine Tool Technology and some work experience including an internship or equivalent. Under direct supervision, operates more than one type of machine tool such as mills, drill presses, lathes etc., on machining operations with a low to moderate degree of difficulty in support of production operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: * Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit and continuous innovation and improvement). * Receive specific machining instructions from blueprints and machine drawings. * Read and interpret blueprints and part drawings and machine to specifications * Familiar with sending and receiving programs to and from network * Perform as many second operations as possible, stamping part numbers and deburring during machine cycle time. * Maintain work area in accordance to 5S standards. * Check machine parts to ensure that they meet proper size, shape or tolerance specs. * Perform routine maintenance. * Uses micrometers and other measuring tools and devices to assure tolerances are held. * Set up, operate, and program a broad range of production work involving close tolerances and set ups that are exacting utilizing both vice work and fixturing techniques that are somewhat involved and have a low to moderate degree of difficulty. * Must demonstrate a willingness to continue expanding his/her skills by pursuing training and cross training in all areas of the Machine Shop as availability of equipment allows. * Must demonstrate the flexibility to operate any equipment or perform any operations to maintain part throughput according to priority and due dates within the assigned cell. * Responsible for complying with all safety policies and procedures.
