As part of the EmpowER DVM Mentorship program, you will experience a combination of didactic learning and hands-on clinical work including achieving individual learning goals under the supervision of our DVM Mentorship Director. Your independent responsibilities will increase as you progress through your first year, while still maintaining consistent access to the support of your mentor and peers. We view solid mentorship in a real clinical setting as a critical step to becoming a successful emergency veterinarian.
This program focuses on building skills in an emergency setting including:

Schedule, and Commitment:
This mentorship program is a three-year opportunity with the first year being a structured mentorship.
After successfully completing your first year, you will transition to working as a Staff Veterinarian for your second and third year.
As a mentee and a staff doctor you will work an average of 12 shifts per month, with a mix of shifts including days, swings, and overnights. Your mentorship year will require greater flexibility in scheduling to ensure you can be paired with an appropriate level of support.
Compensation:
Salary for the first year is $110k
After successfully completing the first year of the program, you will transition to a production/salary compensation model when switching to status as an ER staff doctor. Our ER staff doctors currently earn an average of $215k+/year.

You have a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited school of veterinary medicine or certification through ECFVG and the ability to be licensed in the state of Oregon.

**A little about the position and our hospital:**
Our state of the art facility was constructed in 1999 and is a fully functioning multi-specialty hospital in Clackamas, Oregon just outside of Portland. Just as in human medicine, we use a Varian Trilogy Radiotherapy System in combination with a CT scan to develop advanced treatment plans (IMRT, SRT) offering state of the art radiation delivery. You will serve as a mentor for our veterinary technicians and support staff, plus be required to educate clients and perform treatments on our veterinary patients.
You would be under direct supervision of our Veterinary Oncologist and administer radiation therapy treatments to our patients. Accuracy in positioning the beam of radiation to correspond with the designated tumor volume and accuracy delivering the prescribed dose are paramount job functions. Some animal handling will be required. When available and time allows help diagnostic imaging department run CT scans.
**Qualifications:**
+ Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology program required.
+ Position is entry level and requires 0-3 years' experience actively practicing as an RTT. ARRT certification required.
+ Candidate should possess the ability to multitask, handle stressful and emotional situations.
+ Candidate should have a good understanding of medical terminology.
+ Must be able to work well independently as well as part of a team

As a Veterinary Extern, you will observe a fast-paced specialty hospital, particularly in our ER and ICU and learn from our staff doctors at a state-of-the-art, non-profit, AAHA-accredited, and VECCS Level 1-certified teaching hospital. This externship is geared towards students interested in applying to our post-graduation rotating internship or ECC residency.
DoveLewis is a different kind of veterinary hospital. As a non-profit with no private equity or corporate investors, we have built a collaborative community that is dedicated to serving every animal and every person who cares for them. Join our AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level 1 medical center that includes a brand-new, state-of-the-art building for our specialty departments, a 3 Tesla MRI, and 64-slice CT. We also have several community funds to help low-income families, lost pets, abused animals, and wildlife access emergency care. Some of our other community programs include our on-site blood bank, pet loss support programs, and the Portland Area Canine Therapy Team (PACTT).
Externships last two weeks and start every other Monday. Students work on the floor four days a week, 10-12 hours daily. Externships are primarily observational ER rotations that do not replace preceptorships or other graded rotations. DoveLewis cannot provide evaluations to universities upon completion of the rotation and can only verify attendance for independent study credits. We accept applications on an ongoing basis. Rotations are available most of the year, excluding June and the end of December.

DoveLewis Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital is hiring full-time entry level Veterinary Assistants (Level 1) to join our Appointment-Based Surgery Team.
As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant (Level 1), you will be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the surgery department, assisting with surgeries, and post-operative care. This position may also perform work as a Veterinary Assistant 1 in the ICU or ER.
A genuine love of and respect for all animals is required, as is an appreciation of the human-animal bond.
Wage: $19-$22 hourly, plus overnight and weekend differential for applicable shifts.
Schedule: Appointment-Based Surgery Veterinary Assistants (Level 1) will work four 10 hour shifts. The proposed schedule for this service is every Monday-Thursday, 7a-7p. Specific shift details are still being determined.
What are we looking for in a candidate?
Experience or education equivalent to a High School Diploma
Valid Oregonor Washington driver's license for driving the DoveLewis transport van is strongly preferred
1+ year experience working in animal care work such as at a veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or animal daycare
Experience working in sterile fields
Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above
