Job Overview
Dow Rummel Village is seeking a dependable, compassionate CNA & Medication Aide to join our overnight team. In this role, you'll deliver direct resident care, administer medications, and ensure safety, dignity, and comfort throughout the night in our Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing neighborhoods. Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually. Maintains all department specific required certifications.

Job Summary
Provides care and services such as medication administration, healthcare services, activities of daily living assistance and other duties, as assigned, in a caring, safe and efficient manner and is responsible to perform according to location standards and procedures. Assists residents with self-administration of medications. May administer medications with proper training. Assists residents in maintaining proper and clean appearance. Assists residents with bathing and maintaining cleanliness of all body areas. Helps residents with toileting needs. Helps residents with dressing and undressing and maintaining proper clothing. Assists residents in transferring, repositioning and walking. Obtain vital signs accurately and reports changes in resident health status. Adheres to OSHA and CDC guidelines to minimize infections by following aseptic cleaning techniques, including those that apply to blood borne pathogens. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical use, and follows SDS guidelines for any exposure.
Assists with preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals and snacks to residents following orders, standards and regulations. Folds, hangs and distributes clean linens and personal clothing. Prepares and launders soiled linen / clothing. Cleans residents' rooms and bathrooms, work areas and other public areas. Takes part in community involvement in location and works with volunteers.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. High School Diploma or GED may be required based on working state.
If working at a facility in which a lift is utilized to move residents, must meet the minimum state age requirement.
Must complete and maintain assigned medication administration training program and competencies per state guidelines.

Job Summary
The Medication Aide (MA) is a certified individual who has successfully completed a state-approved training program for medication administration, demonstrating competence through written and clinical examinations. The MA plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and accurate administration of medications to residents, adhering to Dow Rummel Village policies and procedures.
The Responsibilities
Model the values, mission, and vision of Dow Rummel Village.
Support the facility's commitment to safe practices, infection control, and residents' rights.
Administer medications accurately as prescribed by physicians, following established policies and procedures and state/federal regulations.
Observe, record, and report symptoms and conditions of residents related to medication interactions, adverse reactions, or side effects.
Determine and record the effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner.
Uphold and promote residents' rights during medication administration.
Ensure safe storage of medications according to Dow Rummel Village policies and state/federal regulations.
Inspect, clean, and monitor equipment and supplies, reporting issues to the Charge Nurse for correction or repair.
Follow the principles and practices of the Buddies Forever Program.
Obtain, record, and report vital signs during medication administration.
Demonstrate awareness of infection control practices, including Universal Precautions and OSHA's Blood-borne Pathogen Standard.
Communicate accurately and factually with residents, staff, and others, seeking clarification from the Charge Nurse when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned or outlined in the Resident Associate Job Description.
What You'll Bring
Successful completion of a Medication Aide certification program.
Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques, evidenced by a medication error rate of 5% or below.
Familiarity with Dow Rummel Village policies and procedures.
Ability to recognize complications, adverse reactions, or side effects of medications and consult with the Charge Nurse as necessary.
Understanding and practice of resident confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written communication.
Positive, patient attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative approach in working with residents.
Ability to follow task orientation, instructions, rules, and procedures.
Physical ability to push and pull 60 pounds, lift 50 pounds, and carry 15 pounds with two hands.
