Since 1982 for IRMI and 2011 for WebCE, when it was acquired by IRMI, Jack Gibson has led the executive teams in determining the strategic directions of the companies along with high-level tactics. Until 2016, he also led the editorial and training and education teams at IRMI. Jack Gibson is the coauthor of 11 reference works on insurance and risk management, all published by IRMI, including Contractual Risk Transfer, Construction Risk Management, and The Additional Insured Book. In addition to his executive role, he continues to serve as product manager for Captive.com, managing editor of IRMI Update, and executive editor The Risk Report. During his career, Mr. Gibson has been a presenter at the annual conferences or meetings of virtually every major industry trade association serving the risk management and insurance communities as well as many construction industry and lawyer seminars and meetings. He co-chairs the annual IRMI Construction Risk Conference and has presented at most of them, receiving high ratings. Mr. Gibson earned a BBA degree, cum laude, in risk management and an MBA degree, both from the University of Georgia. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Mr. Gibson is a member of the CPCU Society, having held many committee and officer positions, including president of the Dallas Chapter, and serving on the International CPCU Society’s board of directors. In 1996, he was honored as University of Georgia’s Outstanding Insurance Alumnus of the year. In 2009, the Society of Risk Management Consultants designated Mr. Gibson as an honorary member in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the practice of risk management. In 2016, the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing the 20-year collaboration between IRMI and TIPS with respect to the TIPS Scholarship Program and the IRMI CGL Reporter. He serves on the board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), Texas—Southeast Division. He is also chairman of the Texas Risk & Insurance Professionals Society (TRIPS), which supports university risk management and insurance academic programs in Texas through scholarships and in other ways. Prior to joining IRMI in 1982, Mr. Gibson was a consultant with a leading national risk management firm. His consulting practice focused on financial institutions, public entities, and contractors.
