As the brand turned 40, and the new millennium began, the firm enjoyed its best year for sales, with the company selling £250m of boots in 2000 alone.
Then in 2003 the revitalisation of the famous brand began with high fashion designers from around the globe re-interpreting and customising the classic 1460 boot.
In 2005 it won The Institute for Turnaround's annual award, after R Griggs restructure the company back to profitability.
In 2007 the resurgence continued when the original Cobbs Lane factory in Northampton factory recommenced the manufacture of hand-made Doctor Martens Originals.
A 2009 partnership with Raf Simons was an exercise in extremes, offering shiny, gilded pieces alongside simple working class inspired designs.
In October 2013 R Griggs Group Limited was sold to a private equity firm Permira for £300m.
For the year ended March 31, 2019, Dr Martens saw its revenue jump 30 per cent to £454.4m, while EBITDA rose 70 per cent to £80m.
