DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will employ Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) to create detailed technical drawings for bridges and other structural elements. Your responsibilities will include drafting and detailing tasks that contribute to the development of moderately complex final plans based on preliminary sketches, existing highway and bridge plans, as well as field survey data. The structures you will work on may include reinforced concrete box culverts, simple span bridges, metal plate culverts, multi-span bridges, and various bridge rehabilitation projects ranging from simple to moderately complex. You will undertake a diverse array of drafting and minor design tasks under the professional supervision of a bridge and structural designer, civil engineer, or draftsman. Your work will involve utilizing CADD tools or traditional drafting methods, which will require you to prepare and verify mathematical calculations, as well as establish horizontal and vertical alignments and drainage parameters through mathematical formulas. You will apply your knowledge of algebra, plane geometry, and trigonometry to perform calculations necessary for computing plan quantities and executing structural drafting with minimal oversight. Additionally, you will participate in field inspections of bridges related to rehabilitation and replacement projects, developing inspection notes and sketches with limited guidance from professional staff. You will also be responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and detailing of bridge and structure plans completed by others, providing support and mentorship to junior staff members, and striving to meet or exceed the expected performance outcomes for the current evaluation cycle. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.     We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining CAD, product data management, and ERP/MRP systems. You will assist with designing and testing products and prototypes to meet desired expectations, document designs for product support, and generate bills of materials (BOM) for new products and sub-assemblies. You will also interface with other departments to ensure effective communication of new product development and continuing engineering activities. Responsibilities * Maintain CAD, product data management, and ERP/MRP systems. * Assist in designing and testing products and prototypes to achieve desired expectations. * Document designs for product support and efficient development of successive product generations. * Generate bill of materials (BOM) for new products and sub-assemblies or options as well as maintaining existing products. * Interface with other company departments to ensure effective communications of new product development and continuing engineering activities. * Identify opportunities for product improvements and cost reductions. * Participate in workflows and implement design changes. * Execute work tasks in accordance with standard procedures. * Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned. Essential Skills * Associate degree in Mechanical Design or CAD 2 year degree/certification. * 2 years of mechanical design experience in the manufacturing of mechanical equipment. * Proficiency in SolidWorks. * Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). * Ability to work effectively under pressure, be highly motivated, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality. * Ability to interpret specifications and execute process improvements. * Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, training, and PC skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience with ERP systems. * Understanding of parts library and manufacturing processes. * Knowledge of automation in mechanical design. Work Environment This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. The work environment is fully remote, allowing flexibility and convenience. The company is growing rapidly by acquisition and market share, and is introducing more automation.
