Drake Co company history timeline
The Drake Manufacturing Company was founded in 1897, successor to the Drake Hardware Company.
They made a deal with the Johnson brothers to offer stagecoach rides from Loveland to Estes Park and back again, starting May 15, 1905.
1905 was a year of brisk business for the Inn at the forks, as daily stage travelers had a meal while the horses were changed.
Frank Alderdyce bought The Forks in 1906 and also became postmaster.

In 1952 Henry H. Macler bought a half interest in the company from the Drake family.
In 1955 a new process called Shell Molding was introduced into this country from Germany and a few foundries felt this was a means to produce better castings.
The employees of the company were organized by the International Association of Machinists in 1961.
In July 1964 Macler Industries, Inc. of Friendship purchased all the outstanding stock of Drake Manufacturing Company.
The post office remained in the hotel until 1973 when it was moved into a modular building.”
The Bobcat Fire started around 7:20 am on June 12, 2000 by a camper who used to like to camp back behind the waterfall at the first switchback.
(In 2008 the company is no longer in business.)
