The Department of Art and Design at Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Adjunct Professor who uses critical pedagogical approaches to teach the Surveys of Western Art. Currently, we offer a 2-part Western Survey: Prehistoric to Gothic during the Fall, and Renaissance to Contemporary during the Spring.
Preference given to faculty who can also teach the intro-level Art Appreciation and/or some of our 300-level, writing-intensive offerings in Art History, as needed. These include, but are not limited to: African American Art; History of Graphic Design; and Gender, Art, and Society. For a full list of our course offerings, click here.
Part-time Adjunct Faculty members typically teach 3-6 credits per semester, with class schedules determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability. Courses are taught in person at the West Long Branch campus. Adjunct positions remain posted continuously to expand the university's pool of qualified adjunct faculty. Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day technical, educational, and research support activities conducted in the laboratory; contribute to planning and reviewing the lab's performance.
* Develop policy and protocol around shared equipment, reservations, and student access; implement appropriate inventory control systems and maintain inventory databases.
* Provide training on specialized technology and tools to students, student employees, and faculty.
* Establish and maintain policies regarding safe use of equipment; conduct safety orientations for students and faculty on the proper use of equipment and materials.
* Maintain thorough records of equipment condition and needed service; conduct a full inventory and status evaluation once per semester.
* Work with accountants, administrators, and IT staff on purchasing new items, updating obsolete software and systems, and repairing damaged equipment.
* Monitor expenses and manage the allocated budget for each semester; prepare internal reports for management.
* Supervise student employees each semester, including posting positions, interviewing, and onboarding.
* Schedule student employees and assign responsibilities; provide training on equipment, hardware, and software.

Role accountabilities:
* Support the multi-discipline Atlanta Mobility Environmental Group
* Conduct historic resources field surveys (day trips and occasional overnight trips)
* Conduct background research on historic resources using a variety of primary and secondary sources
* Evaluate historic resources for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in accordance with Section 106 of the NHPA, the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), and other relevant laws and regulations
* Assess project-related effects to historic resources, including working with engineering professionals and overall project team to avoid or minimize impacts in accordance with Section 106 and/or GEPA
* Prepare technical reports for distribution to state and federal agencies, including creating project and resource maps in ArcGIS Pro
* Maintain internal and external delivery schedules for all assigned projects, prioritized by project baseline schedule dates
* Provide project status updates at meetings and serve as the point of contact for historic resources
* Projects will generally be in Georgia but could also be outside of the state, as needed
* Adherence to Arcadis' practices including quality and safety standards.

We maintain regular studio hours throughout the week; however, we host many events that take place on some weekday evenings and some weekends as well which you will need and want to attend with your students.

Role accountabilities:
Support the multi-discipline Atlanta Mobility Environmental Group
Conduct historic resources field surveys (day trips and occasional overnight trips)
Conduct background research on historic resources using a variety of primary and secondary sources
Evaluate historic resources for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in accordance with Section 106 of the NHPA, the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), and other relevant laws and regulations

Prepare technical reports for distribution to state and federal agencies, including creating project and resource maps in ArcGIS Pro
