Summary:
As a Senior Condensed Matter Physicist, the candidate will play a critical role in the development of advanced quantum- and condensed matter-based platforms for highly precise sensing, detection, timing, and measurement systems.
Specifically, the candidate is expected to work on quantum solid-state sensing and detection and to conceive, design, model, test, and characterize novel methods for using room-temperature condensed matter structures to outperform conventional detectors.
The candidate is expected to have deep fundamental knowledge and experience with optics, electromagnetics, materials, devices, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and/or acoustics. It is highly desirable that the candidate have some experience with theory, simulation, and experimental work.
A Senior Hardware Physics Engineer is a physicist, applied physicist, optical engineer, electrical engineer or similar who works at the intersection of physics and engineering. The student will be a part of a team that designs, models, and tests complex multi-physics devices, microsystems, and materials and systems. An example research area would be radiation effects in semiconductor electronics. Summary:
The Special Test Supervisor has the responsibility for oversight of Draper's Special Test Facility (STF). The Supervisor should have a strong understanding of environmental test planning, preparation, execution and surveillance for a variety of environmental test cells. The Supervisor is responsible for building a team of technicians and performing oversight and professional development to them. The Supervisor is required to have a mindset of continuous process improvement and supporting staff training to meet the requirements of the Special Test Facility.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervising approximately three union technicians that support the Special Test Facility operations including scheduling daily work assignments and performing annual evaluations.
• Maintain Environmental Test Confluence Page to include but not limited to: Inventory of existing test cells, locations, configurations and capabilities; user manuals; drawings; Table top drawings; Maintenance schedules (calibration, LN2 re-fill, compressed air, etc.)
• Responsible for coordination across programs to maximize efficiency of the Special Test Facility for Draper while meeting customer milestones. This will be accomplished by leveraging a centralized reservation system and assigning programs to the correct test cells while planning for maintenance of the test cells.
• Responsible for the overall Special Test Facility Surveillance to include but not limited to test cell usage data collection and failure rate analysis
• Responsible for Sparing Plan / Obsolescence Tracking that includes Identification of Critical Parts (e.g., high failure rates); Sparing Quantities (minimum # parts on-hand) - CAPEX; Storage & Inventory Tracking
• Responsible for planning for Preventative Maintenance that is preformed by Draper and External Vendors.
• Support the acquisition/upgrades/repair for all the test cells that are included in the Special Test Facility. These tasks include requirements development, facility planning, quotes, work with administration team for procurement (reqs, POs, etc.), installation & acceptance /re-certification
• Lead and manage troubleshooting efforts and issues with the test cells and generate plan of action
• Maintain 5 year facilities plan, including research and approved purchase/installation of all capital equipment.

Electro-Mechanical Instrument Student Co-op or Intern at Draper will primarily support the research and development of precision inertial guidance instruments for existing customers. Summary:
The Billing Manager is responsible for leading the billing processes and organization for Draper. Draper performs its services under a variety of contract types including cost, fixed-price, fixed-priced incentive, time & material, and license and royalty. The Billing Manager analyzes unbilled balances, conducts regular accounts receivable analysis to ensure timely collections, and provides accurate and timely analytical support for key customers.

• Interacting regularly with Contracts Administrators/Managers, Subcontracts Administrators, and Departmental Program Managers to ensure contract requirements have been met (e.g., submission of deliverables, verifying that all payments have been made, obtaining various releases, closeout of subcontract agreements, disposition of government property, disposition of classified material, etc.).
• Assist in identifying terms and conditions of complex billing or financial reporting agreements.
• Identify, research, and initiate corrective action plans for billing issues/discrepancies.
• Monitor and address all outstanding receivables and continually assess collectability.
• Work independently processing cancelling funds, retroactive rate adjustments and final invoices.
• Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and coordinating with DCMA and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) on audit findings and other issues that relate to the closeout process.
