Set up, operate, and tend drilling machines to drill, bore, ream, mill, or countersink ductile iron work pieces.

Responsibilities
•Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
•Verify conformance of machined work to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, or fixed or telescoping gauges.
•Study machining instructions, job orders, finish specifications, sequences of operations, setups, or tooling requirements.
•Change worn cutting tools, using wrenches.
•Install drill bits in spindles.
•Position and secure work pieces on tables, using bolts, jigs, clamps, shims, or other holding devices.
•Observe drilling machine operations to detect any problems.
•Lift workpieces onto work tables either manually or with hoists or direct crane operators to lift and position workpieces.
•Verify that workpiece reference lines are parallel to the axis of table rotation, using dial indicators mounted in spindle.
•Operate single- or multiple-spindle drill presses to bore holes so that machining operations can be performed on ductile iron workpieces.
•Perform minor assembly, such as fastening parts with nuts, bolts, or screws, using power tools or hand tools.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED required.
•Associates degree in a technical field or training in a vocational school preferred.
•One to three years of related on-the-job experience required.

The locator/operator will be responsible for directional drilling, locating, reading prints and driving. Operators may perform a variety of tasks requiring the use of hand and power tools and motorized equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Operate directional boring rig and/or locating equipment as required.
• Work with operator to locate utilities during the boring process.
• Complete a daily inspection on bore or potholing equipment.
• Verify dig permits.
• Assist with filling water tanks with water and adding chemicals when appropriate.
• Locating the bore head and successfully to avoid hitting any utilities.
• Hook up proper equipment such as a reamer to complete bore shots.
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Operating a motor vehicle, regulated under the DOT with proper licensing.
• Enforces company and customer safety rules, guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Supports, complies with, and participates in HSE Program.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years or more experience as a directional driller and locating equipment.
• CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement.
• Good verbal communication and written skills.
• Prefer three (3) years experience operating/locating.

• Perform all drill site duties under the supervision of a blaster in charge;
• Operate drill safety and efficiently
• To assist with blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved;
• Communicate all relevant information to the blast crew, including a review of the hazard assessment through the safety tailgate meeting
• Ensure that all equipment to be used in that operation is in good operating condition
• Ensure that all MSHA regulations are adhered to within the operation in regards to personnel workings, product storage, and product transportation;

• Must have MSHA Part 48 underground mine training;
• Must have 3 years underground drilling experience; and
• Must have 1 year surface drilling experience.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;
• Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical;
• Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
• Maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements;
• Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards;
• Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold;
• Must be able to physically stand long periods of time;
• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
• Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors with other duties as required;
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA;
• Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment;
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
