The Pratt and Whitney North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) is currently seeking an Engineer with interest in Flow and Thermal analysis to work commercial and military gas turbine engines.
Key Responsibilities:

+ Thermal analysis of static components within the turbine and compressor sections.

+ Support all phases of design, development, validation, and production implementation

+ Support fleet management of engines flying throughout the world.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Master's Degree in Engineering or Bachelors degree in Engineering and 2+ years' experience is required.

+ Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

+ US Citizenship required due to government contracts

+ Active Security clearance OR ability to obtain

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Working knowledge of: Solid Modeling / Finite Element Modeling / CFD

+ Computer programming (Perl, C++, Python, Matlab, etc)

Responsibilities:
  • Provides production support to the machining area and the assembly area.
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.

We are looking for a talented **Thermal and Fluid Analysis Engineer** to join our team specializing in engineering for our Power Systems Business in a hybrid role based in Seymour IN / your commutable home office.
**In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:**

+ This position, located in Seymour, IN is in the ALDV (Analysis Led Design and Validation) team of the Power Systems Business Unit reporting to the US ALDV Team Manager. This team is responsible for providing design recommendations to internal stakeholders based on simulation and analysis as well as analytical hand calculations and benchmarking. This role specifically will focus on thermal fluids evaluation at the 1D system level (Kuli\\GT) as well as 3Dcomponent level (Fluent/CFX).

+ Executes thermal/fluid evaluations to deliver component and sub-system level recommendations in all stages of product development through hands on analysis and utilization of the wider ALDV team, including leveraging expertise from the broader organization.

+ Correlates system level models to test data.

+ Works with local stakeholders to define appropriate analysis tasks as well as modeling technique to support their needs.

+ Understands model fidelity appropriate for the point in the product lifecycle/timeline and impact of the simulation result under evaluation.

+ Drives efficient execution and delivery of projects to the meet the program schedule through managing cross-functional simulation plans and influencing the work of a broader group on these difficult tasks.

+ Leads analysis reviews to present results and conclusions and give recommendations for future actions to our global internal customers.

+ Grows and applies knowledge of thermal fluids while leveraging existing product knowledge.

+ Contributes to development projects supporting and promoting functional excellence and continuous improvement of processes within our ALDV group.

+ Technical mentoring of local engineers in simulation.

**Qualifications**

**To be successful in this role you will need the following:**

+ College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

+ This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

+ Prior entry level engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required.

+ Minimum 1 year experience - preferably fluids experience

+ Good understanding of 1D and 3D fluid analysis and its impact on stress, strength & failure of mechanical / structural analysis

+ Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
