Responsibilities: • Assist passengers on and off the vehicle safely and courteously. Assist clients who use medical equipment, and handle emergencies that may arise. • Provide support, assistance, and always interact with participants during field trips and activities in addition to pick up and drop off. • Provide support in the activity rooms as needed. • Ensure the van is clean and in optimal condition for the comfort and safety of the clients. • Follow the daily schedule assigned to transport clients to numerous areas within the city of Chicago. • Provide a high level of customer service to clients and families. • Note visible changes in the physical or mental health of clients regularly transported; communicate this information to appropriate personnel for follow-up, and document unusual behavior. • Secure wheelchairs with restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during transport. • Ensure that clients are received by the caregiver and/or authorized person. • Complete daily route report. • Report and complete incident reports as needed. • Conduct weekly vehicle inspections. Thoroughly inspect the vehicle and maintain a clean and safe condition. • Report the need for maintenance and/or service to the ADS Manager. • Maintain standard records such as logs of passengers, mileage, and gasoline purchases. • Operates radio or similar device to communicate with the base station, other drivers, caregivers or to report disruption of service. • Follow at all times the ADS Driver manual. • Always ensure safety of clients • Must operate the van in accordance with vehicle and transportation laws, ordinances, and regulations. • Other job duties are assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Valid Illinois Driver's License. 3-5 years of experience working with seniors or adults with disabilities. 3-5 years of driving experience. EDUCATION: High School diploma/GED. CPR certification is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: There are no unusual environmental conditions other than inclement weather and inappropriate driving of other vehicles. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak English, specifically, to communicate both in person and over the telephone. Position Summary: Driving a tractor trailer long-distance between terminal locations to pick up and drop off freight. Responsibilities Essential Functions: • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals. • Load and unload trailer, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: • A minimum age of 23. • A minimum of 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience. • All drivers must pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer. • All drivers must possess, or obtain within the required time period, and maintain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on their current valid driver's license issued by the resident state in which they reside. • All drivers are to possess only one valid driver's license (CDL) issued by the resident state of the driver. Operators who have recently transferred from another state must produce a copy of the former license or provide license information for verification from that state. Drivers will need to provide information on all licenses held within the previous 36 months. • No record of citation or conviction of any DUI / OWI or Reckless Driving within the previous 5 years. • Must have and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). • Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen. • Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen.
