Compensation | $18 hourly Employment Type | Contract

Onsite Health Specialty Physicians, Inc. is a home health physician group. We are recruiting a part-time or full-time local Medical Driver to safely transport and accompany physicians from medical facility to patient homes for healthcare management.

Requirements :

· Must follow traffic laws & adhere routes correctly, ensuring safe arrival to destinations at all times

· Hold current & valid IL driver’s license

· Have a “clean” driving record for at least 18 months

· No loss or suspension of driver license at any time or for any reason

· Be at least 25+ years of age

· Ability to accurately and quickly read a street map and GPS

· Escort and accompany physicians to patient homes

· Assist physicians by carrying medical bag to patient homes

· Bilingual a plus (Fluent in Spanish)

· Must have open availability throughout the week between the hours of 8AM and 5PM

· Training required from 9AM- 5PM at the Lincolnwood Office

· Accountable professional drivers with great people skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Highly responsible & reliable.

What you will be doing as a Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver:

  • Most of your day will be spent in a company-owned vehicle, safely driving and transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail and related materials.
  • Load and unload company vehicle with appropriate equipment.
  • Operate a hand-held scanning device to track items throughout the transportation cycle.
  • Observe operating policies, procedures and service schedules.
  • Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
  • Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat and orderly vehicle.

Department: Transportation

Reports to: Core Services Manager

Status: PT - Non-Exempt

Hours per week: Under 30 per week

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Operates The Whole Person vehicles to transport consumers to predetermined destinations safely, promptly and courteously.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

+ Safely drive in a manner that adheres to the saying on the bus: SAFE, RELIABLE, COURTEOUS.

+ Daily safety and maintenance inspection of vehicle.

+ Relate positively to all passengers.

+ Promote The Whole Person and encourage ridership.

+ Perform minor maintenance (e.g., van washing).

+ Report maintenance problems to the Supervisor.

+ Report accidents and breakdowns to the Supervisor immediately.

+ Comply with all vehicle operation rules and regulations.

+ Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.

+ Attend training meetings and, where appropriate, county support committee meetings.

REQUIRED SKILLS

+ Missouri Class E Driver's License is Required

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting on a daily basis for many hours at a time, driving, walking to and from the door of the destination and assisting passengers, bending/stooping on a daily basis while lifting packages, assisting passengers or doing vehicle maintenance, pushing and pulling daily to operate lift or ramp.

Driver must also manage riders in wheelchairs. This entails negotiating single steps or curbs, positioning the wheelchair on the lift platform, maneuvering the wheelchair inside the vehicle and securing the wheelchair with the tie-down system. The weight of a wheelchair and passenger can easily exceed 200 pounds. All drivers receive training on wheelchair management and are encouraged to know their limits.
