DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste. Waste experience preferred, but not required.
•Ability to read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
•Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
•Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
•Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
•Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
•Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
•Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which require following basic safety precautions.
•The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement or ability to obtain one.
•Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
•Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.

The Role and the Company

The Driver Training Manager role is based in Pavilion, NY and reports directly to the Sr. Area Operations Manager.

Here's w hat you'll g et t o d o

• Informs, educates, facilitates, and ensures that Company drivers carry out their duties in the most safe and efficient manner possible.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements as required ensuring the safety of all vehicles and staff including but not limited to the State and Federal governments, equipment, and driver / operator licensing, etc. in the Northeast Region.
• Recruitment, onboarding and training of Company and leased drivers ensuring all company policies have been met prior to hauling for the Company.

• Participates and/or conducts meetings with internal and external customers with respect to issues that may arise in delivery of materials produced by the Company.
• Manage fleet monitoring software and report on driver performance.
• Set up/ conduct periodic driver training sessions
• Participate in Northeast Region safety auditing

Essential Experience and Skills

• Associates or bachelor's degree preferred or more than three (3) years of experience supervising DOT drivers
• Previous related experience in trucking in an aggregate or concrete delivery field is preferred.
• Safely operate various types of equipment related to work requirements.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and have excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Experience in Ready Mix Concrete

Work Environment

• Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels

**I. Job Summary**

Develops and implements training for drivers, and performs assessments to ensure adherence to driving standards.

**II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

+ Trains and coaches new and existing drivers on use of applicable tools, equipment, and in fundamental routing practices; transfers expertise to drivers.

+ Develops and delivers training to new and existing drivers on OSHA, DOT, and Waste Management policies and driving standards.

+ Trains and coaches the High Risk Employees / Repeaters Plan, ensuring aggressive, constructive intervention with employees immediately following first safety incident.

+ Re-trains after accidents, near misses, and/or negative observations.

+ Schedules and conducts Observation Behavior Assessments (OBA's) to evaluate driver knowledge, operating behaviors, and compliance with federal regulations.

+ Follows-up observations with constructive coaching and retraining when deficiencies are observed.

+ Conducts employee interviewing, testing, hiring and evaluation. Plans and conducts new employee orientation.

+ Investigates, reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedure and monitors for compliance.

+ Assists investigations of accidents and emergency spills.

**IV. Qualifications**

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

+ Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited)

+ Experience: 4 years of relevant work experience.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

+ CDL (Commercial Drivers License).

+ The CDL is a requirement, therefore, an applicant must be 21 years of age.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

+ Driving experience, driver training, and safety training may be required.
