MATERIAL HANDLER - 1st Shift M-F The Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement of materials, chemicals and related components throughout the facility and grounds. Utilizing hand equipment, motorized pallet and lift trucks and forklifts to complete related tasks. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment and assisting multiple departments with related tasks as necessary.
Essential Job Duties:
Taking direction from the Production Managers and Group leads for safe and efficient material handling necessary to provide support to production and the logistics team.
Support the team to ship quality product on time
Oversight and safe operation of equipment
Material handling
Inventory control / locating material / issuing to point of use
Loading and unloading of delivered materials / goods
Replenish lubricants as needed into holding tanks while maintaining inventory control on lubricants and packaging supplies to support production requirements.
Assist in the reclaiming of precious materials with use of semi-automatic equipment
Support a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work and communicate effectively with co-workers across multiple departments
Forklift certification required
Ability to maintain accurate weights and measures / proficient math skills
Previous material handling experience preferred
Inventory control experience preferred
Must be willing to work overtime as needed
Pay Details: $18.00 to $24.00 per hour

Uses hand/pallet/fork truck to move material into, around and out of the facility. Loads/unloads trucks and moves accepted incoming materials into the proper storage location. Prepares and verifies all associated documentation required to receive or ship material to include: but not limited to, verifying quantities, weights, and product identification. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear. Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal. Perform inventory cycle counting and participate in annual and semiannual physical inventories. In performing assigned duties frequently, lifts/moves up to and including 50 lbs. Standing, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and climbing are all required motions of the job. Also performs material handling functions. When work in primary classification is not available, will perform other work according to skill and availability, to include periodic inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory.

Verify truckloads against shipping memos and packing lists, as appropriate.
Contact supervisor for decision in questionable cases.
Pad, stack and secure transportable goods in position to prevent damage and safety hazards.
Load and/or unload goods; may be assisted by a helper when loading or unloading.
Obtain truck helper's assistance in exiting the truck and follow his/her directions when backing up.
Insure that truck is maintained in a safe and properly working condition; check oil, water and fuel levels, tires, lights and brakes on a daily basis…at least twice a day…Pre and Post Trip Inspections.
Complete post trip inspection form, and report vehicle status or mechanical problems to Warehouse Coordinator for scheduling of repairs and regular maintenance.
Report driving accidents, incidents or traffic violations to supervisor immediately, and complete required reports of the same.
Perform emergency roadside repairs as well as minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. maintaining overall cleanliness of inside/outside of truck, topping off all fluids to proper levels, replacing windshield wiper blades, and lighting bulbs) to truck as required/needed.
Safely remove snow and ice from entire vehicle when required/needed.
Obtain safety, first aid or other relevant in-service training as required by supervisor.
Perform other essential duties when truck is not available or when duties are completed, as directed by supervisor.
Responsible for the movement of materials for the plant, in-house or at other sites, to include loading and unloading of trucks, movement of raw materials and completed shipments to and from sites, house call pickups, and storage of goods.

Occasionally count, weigh and/or record number of units of material moved or handled.

Receives returned materials and supplies from production and verifies part numbers and quantities.
Maintains material handling equipment, including electric trucks and fork trucks, by completing pre-use inspections to ensure good operating condition. Notifies Team Lead or Supervisor of any maintenance needs.
Operates tablet, computer, scanner and material handling equipment including forklifts (sit-down, Drexel, stand-up, reach, turret, order-picker), pallet jacks, stepladders and other equipment to reach material. May use crowbar and mallet for crates.
Carries out proper verification methods as part of the cycle count program.
Frequently moves average weight materials as necessary in the performance of the job or as directed.
Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
5+ years of experience in warehouse / manufacturing environment
Ability to attain forklift certification
Skilled in using various types of material handling equipment a plus
Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systems

Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and following standard practices within 90 days

Job Description
Key responsibilities for this role include:
* Perform a variety of receiving activities to support the flow of incoming materials and supplies, including the physical and electronic receipt of materials from production, interbranch warehouses, vendors (MROs and catalog items), and customers. Accurately record receipts in the business system (e.g., SAP) to facilitate subsequent operations.
