The Data Visual Specialist works with public health scientists, geospatial analysts, web developers, and program leadership to create and publish data visualizations. These visualizations products will provide additional insight for geospatial and public health analyses. The Data Visual Specialist will use a variety of tools to create sophisticated and publication-ready graphs, tables, charts, and other visualizations. Fun stuff you will do on the job: • Participate in the planning, development, and revision of data visualizations. • Participate in meetings and contribute to technical design, reports, and other feedback mechanisms as appropriate. • Translate requirements and analyses from public health scientists and program leadership into visualizations. • Recommend the best use of color, text, and graphics to achieve the communication objective. • Design graphics, charts, and tables based on best practices, user research data, and knowledge gained from research; adhere to established CDC design and branding guidelines. • Ensure visualizations are accurate, consistent, current, and organized in a manner suitable to their target audiences. • Conduct work in an agile manner with regular status updates on progress and blockers. • Research and recommend improvements to existing visualizations for improved education, engagement, and outreach. The objective of the project is to provide professional and program support services to the Office of the Commissioner (OC) that strengthens the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) ability to manage correspondence, oversight activities, tasking, and acquisition needs. Job Summary: The Public Health Program Specialist monitors and evaluates various information sources from a public health perspective, prepares analytical materials and briefing documents for FDA leadership, and coordinates between FDA components on policy development and decisions. The Specialist determines requestor authority for sensitive information considering public health disclosure implications, identifies privacy concerns under FOIA requirements, and prepares background materials on agency programs for stakeholder meetings and briefings. Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison, managing external stakeholder correspondence, coordinating briefings, partnering with Office of Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs to manage oversight inquiries from HHS, Congress, GAO, OIG, and others. Perform and/or integrates highly complex professional services in several operational, functional, or organizational areas. Design and conducts studies, analyses, research; provide expert professional and consulting services; and prepare presentations and recommendations. Provide expert guidance on precedent-setting oversight issues, recommending involvement of OCC or others.
