Christopher L. Mapes, serves as chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc., a Cleveland-based manufacturer of quality welding, cutting and joining products. He is responsible for all of Lincoln Electric's businesses as well as its global product development initiatives. Mapes was elected to the board of directors of The Timken Company in February 2014. At the end of February 2016 after four years in the role, I retired as President of The Knowles Teacher Initiative. Prior to that, I spent over 35 years in the Financial Industry as an Investment Banker and Venture Capitalist. Over the years, I have served on the Board of Directors of numerous publicly-held and private Corporations, including Metrologic Instruments, Inc., Mothers Work, Inc. (now Destination Maternity), Intelligent Electronics, Inc., and The JPM Company. I am currently on the Board of CSS Industries, Inc., a NYSE listed consumer products company.I have been a Trustee of numerous non-profit organizations, including, most recently the Knowles Teacher Initiative,the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Woodlynde School.I have been a guest lecturer on the topic of Investment Banking at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania, The Fox School of Business at Temple University and Drexel University's LeBow College of Business.
